🧵Murakami Flowers NFT Deep Dive Thread🧵 @takashipom

I knew very little about Murakami and its brand at that time to realize how big this drop is, done some more digging and was impressed by what I found so far. So I would like to share some of my findings:

1. Artist - Takashi Murakami
He is one of the world’s most renowned contemporary artists in the world. Known for his stunningly colorful floral art called Murakami Flowers, inspired by Japan’s vibrant manga scene. A subtle reflection and contrast between tradition and modernity.

With 2.5mm Instagram followers and 300k followers on Twitter, his reach is massive. His artwork sells for around $200k to $2m for oil paintings. His highest sale was "My Lonesome Cowboy" which sold for $13,500,000 in 2008 at Sotheby’s New York auction.

2. Previous IRL collab
Aside from his previous successful NFT collab with Clone X @RTFKTstudios , Murakami's brand has already been established long before he created this NFT.

3. CLONE X - X TAKASHI MURAKAMI

Mr. Murakami has been active in the NFT space since April 2021. However, his first collection (Murakami Flowers) was suspended shortly after its release last year because of his little knowledge about NFT at that time.

Turned out, he was invited to collaborate with RTFKT Studios (A Nike-owned company) in November 2021, on CloneX avatar projects, which shows an incredible success.

4. Murakami Flowers
So finally, one of the most anticipated NFT projects of this year, Murakami Flowers has been released. This will be the genesis version of his famous flower art. There will be a combination of 108 backgrounds and flower colors, with 11,664 total supply.

5. Potential of future drops
I believe by holding this Murakami flower, will be the key to access to all of his potential drop(s) in the future.

6. Roadmap
The primary goal of this roadmap is mainly bridging what he’s been building in these past years and connecting it to the digital world. His past experiences such as creating artworks (paintings, sculptures, CGI live-action films, TV-series-style animations),

and in the world of luxury fashion and music industry by collaborating with famous and powerful brands and musicians. In-game industry, including producing online and digital games.

7. Wen Discord?
Yes, I got you, it’s frustrating to buy an NFT worth of 6-7 ETH without having a single discord to even know about any upcoming announcements. The way he communicates so far is by email newsletters which are kinda interesting - so make sure to subscribe.

He also mentioned the reason why he didn’t create a discord yet in one of his Instagram posts. However, M.F holder has decided to come together and create discord for the fellow enthusiasts to connect. (only small number of people atm)

8. Wen reveal?
Murakami has an exhibition opening on 11th May 2022 at Gagosian in NYC, where he will exhibit his works from CloneX, paintings of Murakami Flowers, and other of his physical works. I can imagine the reveal being around that time. It will be very interesting 👀

My personal thoughts:
1. M.F Seeds maintaining to stay above 6eth FP with 33k OS volume and the reveal date hasn’t even been announced yet, with very little to almost no announcement, and no discord…with many other big upcoming drops this week (including ape land), I’m amazed.

2. Upside price potential like Clone X Vials
Based on the statement on their website, seeds will be burned to reveal the Murakami Flower. Will u burn and reveal it? or keep the seed instead? People love to gamble for a chance at getting rares.

With that being said,
I can see similar price action like Clone X Vials just by holding the seeds. (Mintvial FP higher than CloneX).

3. Blessed to be holding a piece by one of the greatest Japanese Contemporary artists and Culture icons. You could never go wrong with buying a genesis collection imo.

With current NFT ecosystem skews heavily in favor of rewarding early/loyal holders. Planning a strategy to fit that scenario will be a smart play. This Murakami Flower will be his first genesis collection ever.

4. They’re not trying to be similar to other projects and tend to have their own version of considerations and thoughts, even if it takes longer than usual, they’re not trying to force it. This is a genuine feeling that I feel is what makes this project really special.

I believe this project has a lot of potentials and many surprises to come, With all his past experience working with Clone X, I sincerely believe they will succeed in the NFT market. #MurakamiFlowers #MurakamiSeeds #Murakami
