2/10 Critics of Supreme Court ethics/recusals say action to reform is needed because Court approval only at 40%. But Congress approval at 27%. Lower than @POTUS! Congress should focus on issues American people care about: High Inflation, Illegal Border Crossings, Crime.
3/10 From my testimony last week: “Confidence in the Court is undermined by the coordinated campaign by the corporate media and Democrats to smear conservative Justices with the goal of delegitimizing the Court.”
4/10 “If you think this is hyperbole, perhaps a brief reminder is in order. Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer stood on the steps of the Supreme Court in March 2020 directly threatening Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch as the Court heard oral argument on an abortion case.”
5/10 @SenSchumer said: “I want to tell you Gorsuch. I want to tell you Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”
6/10 “Less than a year earlier, @SenWhitehouse, the lead Senate sponsor of this proposed legislation, filed an amicus brief in a 2nd Amendment case pending at the Supreme Court, where he threatened that the Court better drop the case or face the consequences.”
7/10 @SenWhitehouse wrote: “The Supreme Court is not well. And the people know it. Perhaps the Court can heal itself before the public demands it be ‘restructured in order to reduce the influence of politics.’”
8/10 Democrats/allies in corporate media also have ginned up baseless ethics attacks on Justice Thomas. “The Left hates Justice Thomas because he is a black conservative who has never bowed to those who demand that he must think a certain way because of the color of his skin."

1/10 Democrats/Progressives would rather burn down institutions than have an outcome they don’t like.
2/10 If this is in fact a leaked first draft, it is despicable unforgivable breach of the Court’s ethics. All signs point to a liberal/Democrat clerk doing this to thwart a majority opinion overturning Roe. Note @brianefallon tweets applauding “brave clerk" leaking draft.
3/10 This is what Democrats do – they will break all rules to get what they want at Court.
1/8 Ginni Thomas is under fire for sending texts to Mark Meadows expressing concerns about fraud in the 2020 elections and urging Meadows to not concede election and hire lawyers to challenge results in courts.
2/8 IMAGINE if Ginni Thomas had actually filed a brief in court challenging the results of 2020 election and claiming that voting machines ACTUALLY changed votes from Trump to Biden! Ginni Thomas would be accused of much worse and more heads would explode.
3/8 But if Ginni Thomas were a Democrat and made those claims, she would nominated by @POTUS to be a commissioner on the Federal Election Commission! That’s actually what is happening with Dara Lindenbaum, who President Biden has nominated to be an FEC Commissioner.
In fact, RBG ripped Trump in 2016 for not releasing his taxes, and then sat on case of Trump challenging a congressional subpoena to turn over his taxes. RBG conduct in 2016 is most unethical act by a Justice in modern times. And surprise, she voted against Trump. @scottwongDC

To be clear, 28 U.S.C. 455 ("Disqualification of justice, judge") APPLIES to Supreme Court Justices. "(a)Any justice, judge, or magistrate judge of the United States shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned." @scottwongDC
In 1993, 7 Supreme Court Justices issued a Statement of Recusal Policy APPLYING 28 U.S.C. 455. " We have spouses, children or other relatives within the degree of relationship covered by 28 U.S.C. §455 who are or may become practicing attorneys." eppc.org/docLib/2011010…
If House Judiciary Dems take up issue with new recusal standard applied to Thomases, I hope they discuss RBG voting on cases in which her husband's law firm appeared before Court. She even voted in favor of Marty's law colleagues' client. Conflict? @JudiciaryGOP@HouseJudiciary

1/19 Stephen Gillers’ letter to the editor at @WSJopinion about last week’s terrific @jasonrileywsj op-ed is misleading and false regarding Gillers’ hypocrisy in criticizing Ginni Thomas’ statements and texts and whether they require Justice Thomas to recuse.
2/19 @jasonrileywsj wrote excellent op-ed on hypocritical attacks on J. Thomas, citing Gillers support for liberal Judge Reinhardt not recusing from same sex marriage case even though Reinhardt’s wife (Ramona Ripston, Exec Dir-ACLU/S.Calif chapter) had publicly commented on case.
3/19 In his letter to editor, Gillers notes “judges aren’t disqualified because of spouse’s public views,” but argues G. Thomas “sought greater influence in the legal battle by advising [Mark] Meadows” in her texts.
