A few quotes & notes from the Fans’ Forum at Arsenal last night.
The meeting was held at Highbury House, with a few of us (including Josh Kroenke) attending online.
1/
Josh Kroenke "It’s been a rollercoaster of a season. I say that with a smile on my face. To think back to where we were after 3 matches, Mikel and the team have done an amazing job stabilizing the ship. I wanna thank you guys for sticking with us through all the ups and downs. 2/
The support home and away has been unbelievable. I can feel and hear a whole new level of connection that’s going on around the club. It makes a real difference. 3/
We've got plans in place to continue to strengthen the squad. Now having match day revenue and having fans back in the stadium has been great. We continue to provide whatever support we can for Mikel and continue to push the squad forward to achieve our goals. 4/
It’s really exciting to see the women’s team coming along as well. Arsenal continue to be at the forefront of that. It’s great to see our team pushing for the league title. We're investing in new buildings for the women’s team. More matches to be played at the Emirates." 5/
Vinai: "The one constant this season is that support from the fans has been amazing.
Before the season, Mikel and I talked about: how do we get the connection with the fans back? And it feels like it’s really strong at the moment. 6/
Given how much change happened last summer and given the age profile of the squad, the reality is with 4 games to go, we are a bit ahead of where we expected we would be. We are still behind where we wanna be, and that’s competing to win the biggest trophies in the game. 7/
That’s our focus this summer: how can we strengthen the squad? How can we get closer to competing? We are confident that we are on the right path. 8/
Delighted how Jonas has settled in with the women’s team. It’s been great to have women’s games at the Emirates, and there are more to come. We’re looking to strengthen the squad and the support staff. 9/
Another big objective has been to strengthen the relationship with ex-players. Quite a few have been to Colney to talk to our players.
We are super proud of the community work we do, like 'Wear no red'. We also continue to help local businesses. 10/
We continue the program on investing in the stadium. We’re on track to replace the big screens, and the work on the roof has begun. We’re also working on how to speed up access to the stadium. 11/
There will be 8 episodes of 'All or Nothing' – I have seen 4. It’s really good. It’s gonna be a real look behind the scenes.
We're working on clarification on what happens at the FF and what happens at the Advisory Board.
Both the FF and the AB will continue." 12/
The awkward moment when there is a group photo and you're attending via Teams 13/
The club got a lot of pushback on both the Socios and Rwanda partnerships. The discussions around these were the most heated part of the meeting.
Josh left the meeting early (after 1h), as there was a game with his hockey team. 14/
From next season you cannot renew your season ticket unless you have attended more than 10 games – or used Ticket Exchange, Ticket Transfer, or Ticket Donate (coming soon).
More than 100,000 people are still on the waiting list for a season ticket. 15/
Tom: We have not found a solution with Piebury Corner, but we are trying to make it work.
Juliet Slot: The Arsenal website and the app will be updated. It’s on the roadmap.
MG: We’re looking at a new video portal in a Netflix style. 16/
I asked if the club would play the song 'Angel' by @LouisDunford at The Emirates. “We’re very aware of the song.” After some discussion, it seemed like most agreed that a song has to grow organically, but maybe it will be played after the Everton game. 17/
The meeting went on for more than 2 hours so obviously, a lot more was talked about. I recommend reading the updates from @DarrenArsenal1 and @REDactionAFC as well. There will be a story on @arseblognews later too. 18/18 #AFC

Here’s an update from the Fans Forum at #Arsenal last night. A thread. #AFC
Vinai: The new signings have all settled in really well. Really disappointing to go out so early in the FA cup. Carabau Cup much better, but still frustrating to get knocked out. 1/
We are in well in contention for European places. We have got a really good chance of getting in top4, and that’s what we’re fighting for. A lot of rebuilding was done in the summer. There are plans to strengthen the club further this coming summer. We have a very clear plan. 2/
I’m not a big fan of the January window. We were focused on seeing if any of the things we wanted to do this summer could be brought forward. We were active in a number of conversations. In the end, it didn’t prove possible. Everybody is comfortable with what we have. 3/

Notes from the Fans Forum @Arsenal last night.
Vinai: Last season was a disappointment. That was the starting point for the transfer window. We wanted to fill our squad with some of Europe’s most exciting young talent, and let them grow & develop with players from Hale End.
Vinai: We signed 6 players between 21 and 23. All of them are players with plenty of experience and plenty of character. We also renewed contracts for Tierney & ESR. All 8 players have been signed on very long contracts.
Vinai: An exceptionally busy window. 7 first-team players + countless academy players left on loan. We agreed mutually with Willian to terminate his contract. 21 deals in the men's first team - 57 deals in total including women and academy.

A few points from the Fans Forum at Arsenal tonight.
Vinai: The transfer window wasn’t like a normal TW. Dramatic COVID impact. Outgoing was difficult leaving too many players and a difficult decision. #AFC
Vinai: Despite all the stories, it was a technical decision from Arteta & his technical staff to leave out Papa & Ozil. + Saliba from EL. Purely on sporting criteria.
Vinai: We made another significant investment, following on from significant investments over the last two summers. To get this club back to competing where we want to be.
