There's a lot of political deal-making & grandstanding going on. @fernandoharin was always known as someone who 'plays to the gallery' with a touch of hooliganism & he's living up to his reputation. Whoever tries to convince us that GR is a changed man, is in it for something. /1

This is a President who refused to listen to anyone & with his Family & cabal, drove the country to bankruptcy. This is a President who misled people, stoked racism & made blunder after blunder due to his arrogance & looking after the interests of the Family & his cronies. /2

This is a President who wanted more power through 20A - apparently now he's ready to give up that powerful position!!! Even after being a miserable failure, this is a President, who still hangs on to the presidency, though people have been demanding for months that he resign. /3

What makes ppl like Harin think that such a man will honour his committments? Do these politicians still think that ppl are stupid & can't see through their chicanery? What GR, Family & SLPP wants is some breathing space. As @RehanJayawick rightly said, GR was on a ventilator. /4

The whole Family & SLPP were on ventilators. Those who are agreeing to form a govt without GR stepping down or without any agreement as to when he will step down, is playing with the future of this country. The economy won't recover in a month or two. It'll take a long time. /5

GR will use this time to strengthen himself, Family & SLPP & will scuttle attempts to bring in necessary reforms, including abolishing the Exec Presidency. The months long sacrifices that the people made, braving sun, rain, tear gas, bullets, beatings, will come to naught. /6

Politicians like Harin, @RW_UNP, et al who will make deals even with the devil, will be responsible for destroying the one golden opportunity that this country had since independence to do away with massive corruption, nepotism, racism, and steer the country towards meaningful /7

reconciliation & development. They're working against the people's wishes. This is a betrayal of the 'Aragalaya'. This is a betrayal of the citizens of SL.
