Canada is sounding more and more like North Korea. This is a democracy which supposedly protects freedom of expression. If Singh faced actual legitimate threats of violence, that's a police matter. Why are they trying to legislate free speech.
Jagmeet Singh says "Some folks were saying, "I hope you die", and things of that nature". Since when is "I hope you die" a death threat? If there were legitimate death threats made against Singh, it's a police matter and should be investigated as such.

While Zelensky is being praised in the west for being liberal and democratic, he orders the suspension of 11 political parties in Ukraine claiming they have links to Russia. Very little reporting of this major news from western media houses. timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry…
In yet more evidence of his democratic and liberal credentials, Zelensky signs a decree that combines all national TV channels into one platform, says it's important to have a “unified information policy” under martial law.
NATO quickly deleted a tweet yesterday that featured a photo of a Ukrainian soldier wearing the Neo-Nazi Black sun patch. Remember we're constantly told that neo Nazis in Ukraine are an insignificant fringe and if you point to it, you're a Putin stooge or worse.
Of course the Russians also have neo-Nazis but no one in the West whitewashes that fact. They're rightly called out. So why are large sections of the media and political class in the west whitewashing the existence of neo-Nazis in Ukraine? Is it because they're "on our side"?
We know of Ukraine's neo Nazi problem thanks to the mainstream media which reported on it quite extensively before the current conflict began. But now it's a wall of silence or worse whitewashing.
"Jerusalem views the gaps between the sides as shrinking, with Zelensky “cooling down” on NATO and willing to negotiate on the status of the Donbass and Crimea.Russia has backed down from calling for a full demilitarization of Ukraine..."Some hopeful signs. jpost.com/breaking-news/…
"Zelensky is torn...On the one hand, he is enjoying immense popularity and has become the perfect Che Guevara. On the other hand, he knows full well what the Argentinian revolutionary and guerrilla leader's end was". jpost.com/international/…
I have to say some of the best coverage of the Russia Ukraine conflict comes from @Jerusalem_Post@TimesofIsrael@haaretzcom . Generally sensible, and balanced. They're not taking sides and not cheerleaders for war.
Who knew the woke are among the biggest war mongers especially when it comes to potential war between nuclear armed states. They put the neo-cons of 9/11 vintage to shame in terms of their bloodlust.
At least post 9/11, even if the established narrative was to go to war, there was a lot of dissent among left intelligentsia especially in Canada. Same folks are now the biggest war mongers.
The woke have been cancelling artists who are seen as sympathetic to Putin. But nothing when it came to China, Saudi Arabia and many other countries with unsavoury regimes which are seen as adversaries of the west.
"There is no propaganda as potent or powerful as war propaganda... It causes us, by design,to abandon reason. It provokes a surge in tribalism, jingoism, moral righteousness and emotionalism.."
"The more unity that emerges in support of an overarching moral narrative, the more difficult it becomes for anyone to critically evaluate it. The more closed the propaganda system is...the more difficult it is for anyone, all of us, even to recognize one is in the middle of it."
"No matter how convinced one is of the righteousness of one's views...there should still be a wariness about how easily that righteousness can be exploited to ensure that no dissent is considered or even heard..."
