BREAKING:

European Commission, France and Germany all announced that European energy companies should be allowed to pay for gas in rubles at a closed meeting between EC representatives and EU diplomats in Brussels on late Friday evening.

Poland & the Netherlands were outraged.
Poland’s PM Mateusz Morawiecki says that he is disappointed by how the EU is handling the issue and says that Russia unilaterally cut Poland off from Russian gas in breech of the contract signed between the two.

At the meeting, the French side went even further and said that European companies could open bank accounts in rubles in Russian banks without this being an act that goes against EU sanctions.
The German diplomat told the EC he had consulted the EC’s new position with all German companies importing Russian energy & that they were pleased with the new stance.

The Polish diplomat wondered how the German had managed to consult them all within minutes of the announcement.
Several countries said that the EC had taken an unacceptable position considering what is happening in Ukraine.

The Dutch diplomat asked the EC how they envision Russia to access and convert euros into rubles on the two western accounts and that Russia shouldn’t have access too
The meeting was called on short notice on a late Friday evening by France (holding the rotating presidency).

Other diplomats did it is a trick that is often used to attract as little media attention as possible to controversial subjects.
The diplomat representing Italy stated that the government in Rome also believes that European companies are allowed to convert euro into rubles for Russian gas payments without breaking sanctions.
The full article about how the EC is reversing on previous statements by Ursula van der Leyen (who claimed that solutions based on converting euros into rubles would go against the EU’s sanctions) can be read on the page of the Polish Press Agency

A series of scandalous statements on Ukraine by Lula da Silva in his big interview with TIME.

The Brazilian presidential candidate and main opponent of President Bolsonaro stated:

“Zelensky is just as responsible for the war as Putin is”.

1/?
“it’s not just Putin who is guilty. The U.S. and the E.U. are also guilty. What was the reason for the Ukraine invasion? NATO? Then the U.S. and Europe should have said: “Ukraine won’t join NATO.” That would have solved the problem.”
“The Europeans could have said: “No, now is not the moment for Ukraine to join the E.U., we’ll wait.” They didn’t have to encourage the confrontation.”

Bulgaria has officially joined the anti-Russian coalition.

Bulgaria’s PM announced it a press conference.

"The policy of sitting back pretending there is no aggressor doesn’t work.

We aren’t looking for conflict but when war comes to our doorstep we will repel the aggressor."
"What we see is an unprecedented economic aggression against Bulgaria", PM Vassilev said and added the diplomatic pressure too:

“Bulgaria was put on the list of enemy countries, the Russian ambassador made statements completely incompatible with her role."
"The game where someone is trying to tell us what to do, someone is trying to pressure us, to blackmail us, is over,” - The PM of Bulgaria stated

Big news from Italy.

Corriere della Sera reports that Italian PM Draghi is preparing to send heavy weapons to Ukraine in the next military aid package.

M109 self-propelled howitzers (SPG) and ultramodern PzH2000 SPGs could all be sent together with armored vehicles!

🇮🇹🇺🇦
Italy’s new military aid package will also include machine guns, anti-tank missile systems and lots of ammunition.

The package is expected to be finalised in the coming days, most likely before Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi's trip to Ukraine.

🇮🇹🇺🇦
Another weapons system Italy could send is the SIDAM 25, an Italian self-propelled anti-aircraft gun mounted on American M113 tracked vehicles.

It can accurate target low flying planes (below 2.5 km) and helicopters.

BREAKING:

Bild has revealed that Scholz lied in yesterday’s press conference after his phone call with Biden.

Scholz has removed all heavy weapons from the list of weapons (tanks, IFVs & artillery).

Ukraine asked Germany for these weapons on April 16.

Big scandal brewing.
Ukraine was initially offered Marder IFVs, Boxer APCs, Leopard-2 tanks and the self-propelled howitzers (Panzerhaubitze 2000) by German defense industry companies.

Scholz said yesterday that Ukraine can by anything on the list but didn’t say he has crossed out all the good stuff
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Germany @MelnykAndrij signaled last night something is wrong by saying:

“There are no heavy weapons at all on the new list that has been purged by the German government".

He added: “the weapons we need are not on this list at all."

What was the theme of the marches?
This year's marches were held under the motto "Lay down your arms! — Stop the war in Ukraine!" with many demonstrators carrying banners demanding an end to the conflict.
Protesters in the city of Jena held up a banner saying 'No to War'
"Our demands for peace and disarmament are more relevant than ever. especially in light of a possible nuclear escalation," said Kristian Golla of the Network of the German Peace Movement.
