I'm not going to lie-- I've barely read up on the #BuffaloMassacre. Not because I don't care, but because I'm so tired of having to fight with people about the existence of white supremacy and hate. I'm so irritated and exhausted with folks who try to explain it away. 1/5
I don't have to read up on it, to know that someone (probably a white man) went out of their way, to target a space in a Black community to purposefully end Black people's lives. I'm sure their were signs that it coming, I bet he had some sort of manifesto. 2/5
I'm sure that friends and relatives of this man are shocked, but then also list off the ways that they knew of his hate and his intentions. I am certain that he WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ALIVE, even tho he was actively shooting in a public place. 3/5
I'm sure folks will claim mental health was an issue, even tho millions of us struggle with mental health, and we still don't go out of our way to kill people. I know there are lots thoughts and prayers being thrown around. 4/5
But more than anything, I know that he will be touted as just ANOTHER bad apple, & not as a symptom of a larger, systemic problem, that wants to see whole groups of people exterminated.
I am tired and angry. But more than anything, I hurt.
