The Enoch Powell Desert Island discs from 1989 is fascinating. He comes across as a man totally devoid of humour but desperate to be deemed of high intellect. Mostly chooses Wagner. When Sue Lawley brings up "that speech" he becomes audibly agitated and tries to deny what he said

But it's the complete absence of wit or levity that sticks. No laughter at all. Not one moment of humour. And that desperation - and it really sounds like he's working very, very hard at it - to be deemed a man of high intellect in the classical tradition.

Britain's strictest Head teacher @Miss_Snuffy has a fake Churchill quote on her school wall.

Nowhere in the canon of Churchill's writing or speeches did he say this. Suggest you get some paint.

Millions of ordinary people smoke cannabis across all sections of society and 90 years of prohibition haven't stopped them doing it. The result is a massive illegal, unregulated trade that makes criminals out of ordinary people and feeds gangsters. Time to end this ridiculous law

To his credit even our PM once used to admit this.

Even Andrea Leadsom admitted it.

Yes it's Fake History - which cuts in all directions and the one source for the Pooh thing was David Irving. The confusion may stem from the fact that a newsreader read out the Churchill speeches at the time and Winston recorded the versions we all know a decade later.
