Marc Elias testified that he would not have approved going to the FBI with the false Russian Alfa bank claim because he did not trust the FBI or Director Comey. Yet, the campaign associates also aggressively pushed the Steele dossier to the FBI.
...Moreover, both Hillary Clinton and Jake Sullivan pushed the Alfa bank claims in public despite being utterly without basis. jonathanturley.org/2021/10/11/is-…
...Durham's filings show Elias as involved in meetings related to the false Alfa bank claim. His partner then pushed the claims to the FBI -- just as the Steele dossier was pushed to the FBI.
...The filings state: "In compiling and disseminating these allegations, the defendant and Tech Executive-1 also had met and communicated with another law partner at Law Firm-1 who was then serving as General Counsel to the Clinton Campaign (“Campaign Lawyer-1″).”...
...“Campaign Lawyer-1” is a reference to Marc Elias. Both the Steele dossier and Alfa bank claims show the same pattern: false claims pushed to both the FBI and the media while the Clinton campaign denied connections.
...Ultimately, the FEC fined the campaign campaign for concealing the funding of the Steele dossier at Perkins Coie. That was the account overseen by Elias at the firm. jonathanturley.org/2022/03/31/fec…
What is particularly ironic in Elias' testimony is that he claimed that you would never have trusted the FBI with an allegation that the campaign developed and was found to be utterly without support. That trust apparently rested with allies in the media.

Marc Elias is now on the stand in the Sussmann trial. Elias was accused by at least one reporter of denying the Clinton campaign was funding the Steele dossier. thehill.com/opinion/judici…
...Elias testified that he hired Fusion GPS for the campaign and said that he tried to keep the association from being widely known. He also stated that he held "weekly check-ins” with Fusion's Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch.
...According to media reports however Elias sat next to John Podesta when Podesta denied the relationship in speaking with congressional investigators. jonathanturley.org/2017/10/27/cli…

There was a surprising controversy yesterday at our commencement at GW Law after Rep. Susan Wild (D) chose the commencement address to launch into a personal attack that accused me of being an example of the use of law for “wrongful ends.” ...jonathanturley.org/2022/05/16/the…
...She falsely accused me of changing a critical legal point in my testimony in the Clinton and Trump impeachment hearings on whether impeachable conduct must be indictable crimes. I felt that a response was warranted...
...I repeatedly stated in both the Clinton and Trump hearings the same position on indictable offenses. I expressly stated that impeachment articles do not have to be based on criminal or indictable acts...

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) today accused the conservative justices of lying under oath and crossing "a line that no one believed would be crossed." The allegation that these justices lied during their confirmations is utter nonsense. jonathanturley.org/2022/05/04/no-…
Gillibrand insisted that she is an experienced corporate fraud expert and "if a corporation put these kinds of statements in their quarterly filings, they would be seen to be purposefully misleading and would be deemed fraud." That would be an interesting case...
...Gillibrand admitted that the justices "said that precedent matters and that precedent is the foundation of our legal system." These justices stated legal truisms while expressly refusing to pledge a position on particular cases.

This is what the NYT editors actually believe: "Imagine that every state were free to choose whether to allow Black people and white people to marry. Some states would permit such marriages; others probably wouldn’t." ...

Today's "nonposition" of the White House on the targeting of justices at their homes is one of the lowest moments in American politics. We have finally hit the bedrock of rage in American politics...
If neither the President nor the left can muster the courage to condemn such conduct, we have reached a tragic but familiar point in our politics:
...Psaki was asked what should have been an easy question on whether it is appropriate to target justices at their homes. She responded "I don't have an official U.S. government position on where people protest."

A liberal group calling itself "Ruth Sent Us" is going to target conservative justices at their homes. foxnews.com/politics/liber… Putting aside the question of what this is supposed to achieve, the suggestion that RBG would approve such a campaign is a denigration of her legacy...
...RBG was closest on the Court with Justice Scalia despite their jurisprudential differences. She opposed liberal causes like court packing and even questioned whether Roe went too far.
...RBG would be the first to denounce this campaign. Using her name is like the ACLU using her quotes while editing them to remove what they considered to be offensive. jonathanturley.org/2021/09/23/acl…
