#HuaLian enemies to lovers thread fic au –

Hua Cheng was sitting in paradise manor, once again like everyday, listening to the reports of all reporters he had sent in different areas, to look for Xie Lian. He should have been bored by now, since almost all reports

are mostly made up stories by the reporters to not face his anger. But still, hua cheng listened to all reports attentively. He couldn't be careless when it comes to His Highness
Today was no different than other days, the sun rose and set like everyday. However for hua cheng,

It was different. The rays of the sun in the sunrise brought a ray of hope with them.
One of the reporters reported "My Lord, the crown prince of Xianle has been seen in the Royal Palace of Yong'an"
Hua cheng is no fool. He can tell which is a lie and which isn't.

The made up reports are usually very well detailed. But this...its very simple
It's not a lie, and hua cheng knows... Something in him tells him that Xie Lian IS there.
The people of Yong'an. They must have imprisoned Xie Lian because he's the last descendant of the

Xie family. What a bunch of monkeys.
His Highness was suffering in the palace, so how could hua cheng stay still.
He called a group of 100 ghosta from ghost city and ordered them to attack Yong'an's palace. Right now.

The group of ghosts reached the border of Yong'an and were stopped by guards. But for how long? They managed to break through, everyone trying to break through
They weren't even halfway in when suddenly, with a flash, all of them were injured heavily.
There were

shrieks everywhere and when they looked up they saw a man with delicate features landing lightly on the floor ahead. His face covered with a golden mask, glowing brightly like the rays of the sun.

(Note before I continue – this is my first time, I'm not good at writing but I really wanted to write this. Pls be nice. It will get too long to write in detail so I'm not writing it elaborately)

They were already fatally injured and didn't dare to fight against that man so they went back. They would rather face Hua cheng's anger than face death again.
When Hua Cheng come to know about this "man with a golden mask" He was confused because how come such a

powerful cultivator existed and he didn't know? He sent his reporters to investigate and found out that the person was named Fangxin and was the Guoshi of the Royal Palace of Yong'an

"These cultivators, they only know how to show off and then hide behind the curtain of 'righteousness'. They even dare call themselves cultivators? "

So what if a hunder ghosts were injured? Hua Cheng would send a thousand, ten thousand or even more.

Whatever it takes to get back to his highness. No price is too high to pay

And, that's what he does. 3 days later he sends another army of ghosts, this time a thousand..

They attacked yong'an together, tearing through the walls and screaming loudly. Even if someone had seen the worst war, they would still be horrified on seeing the scene
But fangxin was not a common man, he had seen things worse than war. He had falled to the deepest point

and seen every ugly thing, and had learnt that in the end, nothing really is ugly
So even when all guards ran away on the horrifying disgusting sight of thr ghosts, fangxin never turned back and faced them without a single ounce of fear

or disgust. A flash and the front row of the so called "army" was already injured

Nobody had timw to even process that, let alone attack. Till the time they gained back their senses, they were all already injured

Years passed by....yet fangxin everytime managed to stop the attacks and not a single person was harmed
Lang QianQiu had grown older and started fighting beside his guoshi, so the ghosts never stood a chance.

Months later, a new ghost king was born by the name of He Xuan. He had come to hua cheng for help and in return promised to help hua cheng rescue Xie Lian

They both worked for days and finally came up with a plan to catch that fangxin guoshi off guard and capture him.
He was hua cheng's sworn enemy, capturing him is the biggest step to rescue Xie Lian and hua cheng would pay any price to do it

Fangxin was strong, sure. But he was against 2 ghost kings who had been forged by the Kiln at Tonglu, none of a two a fool! At the end, he too fell for the well set trap and was captured and was to be presented before crimson rain.

He had no fear whatsoever because he had seen much worse. He could deal with hua cheng with ease.
He was only uneasy because lang qianqiu wouldn't stop trying to save him and in the end was captured too

Fangxin was immortal, but lang qianqiu wasn't. They both could get hurt, but one could live while the other could die.
But lang qianqiu didn't show a fear, which someone comforted fangxin, despite of himself. Believing in his disciple.

Hua cheng was sitting behind the curtains (like the picture) and fangxin and lqq, with their hands and feet tied, were forced to kneel down on the floor in front of the curtain, looking at the man's figure. Fangxin's mask shining as always.

Hua cheng said just four words "where is Xie Lian?"
Fangxin was speechless and lqq was confused
"Give him to me and I'll let you go"
Fangxin, however, interpreted his words very differently and suddenly felt a surge of anger built up in his chest.

He shouted "OVER MY DEAD BODY!"

Then so be it.
Hua cheng stood up and slightly parted thr curtains and stepped out, unsheathing Eming from his waist and pointing it to his face

"One last chance, or you'll go straight to hell"
Lang qianqiu shouted "YOU CRAZY FREAK!!! DARE YOU TOUCH HIM!!"
hua cheng glanced sideways at lqq "and who might you be?"
Lqq, "I'm–NOOOOOOO"

hua cheng attacked with his saber and aimed straight for fangxin's

neck. But fangxin was no fool, he dodged but still got a crack on his mask, which broke into two and fell to the ground
His beautiful, delicate and heavenly features were revealed. The beauty trapped behind the mask was unleashed. Even the most shining mask couldn't

compare to what lie behind it. However those delicate features looked absolutely fierce, pulled into a serious and determined look

Lang qianqiu was speechless, he had never imagined that his teacher was this beautiful. This was the first time he saw his face

But someone else was even more speechless than him. Hua Cheng. Who froze at his spot and couldn't utter a single word.

Fangxin was Xie Lian
How is that possible??
Fangxin was his sworn enemy
He had tried to hurt fangxin so many times
Does that mean...?

Hua Cheng hesitated and lang qianqiu took that as a chance to attack him and untie the ropes binding him

Hua cheng shouted "WAIT... YOUR HIGHNESS... "

but fangxin, or you can say, Xie Lian had already misinterpreted his intentions and replied

"YOU WERE ASKING WHO THE OTHER ONE IS RIGHT ?? WELL HE'S MY LOVER. NOW STAY AWAY FROM ME YOU'RE DISGUSTING"

Hua Cheng received another shock.
Lang QianQiu was... Xie Lian's lover???

But he mentally slapped himself. Just because he loved Xie Lian does not mean

that Xie Lian has to love him and can't love anyone else
Xie Lian was right, he's a disgusting beast who knows nothing but selfishness

He let both of them escape, didn't stop them
Xie Lian was safe.. This was all he asked for

Xie Lian had said that and successfully escaped for. Things had gone by so quickly he barely had time to even process anything but now that he was lying in his bed he finally had time to think carefully about it.
How did hua cheng know him? Why did he call him

"His highness" with such respect? Didn't he have bad intentions...? Then why?
Xie Lian had long since forgotten what it felt like to be respected as xie lian. He was respected as fangxin all over the kingdom, but never as xie lian... Not anymore. Not until.. Today

The attacks died down. No ghost ever even came near Yong'an ever again
But if hua cheng really had bad intentions why did he not send any more ghosts? Why.. After seeing him.. Did he let go and not try to get to him again?
Part of him was relieved but part of him

also wanted to feel "wanted" again.
Hua cheng wanted something from him, that's why he sacrificed so many ghosts of his

But now there was no one who wants him anymore. Xie Lian would be hidden behind the golden mask, once again, forever.

He fell asleep after what felt like ages but his dreams were all filled with blurry images of his time in xianle. The painful memories that had been locked behind a mask for so long broke free and tormented his sleep.
Feng xin, mu qing, his mom, his dad, guoshi and

everyone who were once by his side slowly fading away one by one until only he was left. Standing all alone. But he was never alone
There was a ghost fire by his side, and then a nameless ghost with a white mask and then–
Xie Lian woke up with a jerk, feeling his head spinning

After sometime he finally gathered his thoughts and realized that he was dreaming. Just who was the man standing by his side after the nameless ghost? He wanted to know
He looked at the golden mask kept by his bedside. Shining as always
The mask that he had hid behind

for so many years. When the mask fell down from his face that day, he had felt a weird sense of relief, as if he could finally be free from his past and live a future in which he could be himself
But that never happened because eventually the mask was mended and

went back to where it was. Covering his face and locking him away. Never to be seen ever again.

Xie Lian couldn't sleep so he got up and went outside, only to see Lang QingQiu also standing there, maybe he also couldnt sleep after all

"Guoshi"
"Hmm"
"Who are you? "

So Lang QingQiu noticed after all.. Xie Lian wished he hasn't, but his disciple is smart.

He sighed "does it really matter? For now I'm your guoshi, thats all that matters... Identities are just masks worn by people that keep changing"

Just like the mask worn my Xie Lian

Centuries ago as well, he had worn a golden mask .. When he saved a falling child during the parade.
Now too, Xie Lian wears a golden mask but it's not the same.

Xie Lian finds himself trying to gather information about this "hua cheng".
He does not know why.. Its been long since thag incident happen but he couldn't let go of that ghost king.

Hua Cheng had slaughtered 33 Gods and burnt down their temples, reducing them to mortals

People would usually be terrified on hearing such a tale. Terrified of the man who holds such great man.

But Xie Lian had been on the top once, and also been at the bottom. Things rarely terrified him.

Rather he grew more and more curious
The more he found out

about hua cheng, the more he would feel like something was not right. As if he is supposed to know something that he doesn't know.

Lang QingQiu had already ascended and Xie Lian had long since left the palace of Yong'an. Living in a small hut by the name of "puqi shrine"

He was strolling around the city, collecting scraps when an ox cart driver

offered to drop him to puqi village

Xie Lian accepted the offer and got on the cart, he opened thr scrolls he had collected today and starting looking through them . He found a scroll telling about him, and called Xie Lian as a "god of misfortune"
Xie Lian said "it's alright

All gods are equal. All beings are equal.”

A snicker came from behind, and a voice said, “Is that right. People naturally love saying that all gods are equal and all beings are equal, but if that was true, then all those different gods wouldn’t even exist.”

(Note – Xie Lian hasn't ascended for a 3rd time yet in the au)

( this is getting too long let's just say Xie Lian found out about San Lang's identify in the same way but hua cheng took him to paradise manor after that and they had a night of explanation and confession
Also, hua cheng came back now because lqq had ascended and

Xie Lian wasnt in the palace anymore )
