US imperialists in panic at the prospect of Petro's victory in today's Colombian election. US representative Salazar calls him "a thieve, a terrorist and a Marxist" and calls for Biden to intervene. #ColombiaDecide
For background on today's presidential election in Colombia read this article by the @ColombiaMarxis comrades
#ColombiaDecide marxist.com/colombia-elect…
Today's likely defeat of the capitalist oligarchy represented by Duque and Uribe in the Colombian presidential election was won by workers and youth during last year's heroic Paro Nacional
#ColombiaDecide marxist.com/colombia-natio…
With 42% of the votes tallied, Petro and Francia are ahead in the Colombian presidential election with 40%. Second is right wing demagogue Rodolfo Hernández. The oligarchy's main candidate Fico is a poor third with 24%.

54% of votes counted in Colombian presidential election. Petro/Francia still in the lead with 40%. Right wing demagogue Rodolfo 2nd with 28%. Oligarchy's main candidate Fico 3rd with 23%.

Important on Colombian presidential election. As the poor showing of the main right wing candidate Fico was clear a section of the ruling class started to back Rodolfo (right wing "anti-establishment" demagogue) in the hope he will be better positioned to beat Petro in 2nd round.
If Petro draws the conclusion he needs to moderate his line in order to win the second round (as he did in 2018), that will be a disaster. He can only beat an "anti-establishment" demagogue, by actually radicalising his language.

1st party and % in the 10 most populated Departments:

Bogotá Petro 64%
Antioquia Fico 48
Valle C Petro 53
Cundinamarca Rdlf 44
Santander Rdlf 67
Atlántico Petro 54
Bolivar Petro 50
Norte de S Rdlf 54
Córdoba Petro 52
Tolima Rdlf 40

Colombian presidential election.
99.93% votes counted. 54% turnout.
Petro - Francia 40%
Rodolfo (right wing "anti-establishment" demagogue) 28%
Fico (hard core oligarchic capitalist candidate) 23.9%

Second round will be very difficult for Petro as Fico votes will go to Rodolfo. Image

All this time they insisted it was not a neo-Nazi sign. Now they admit it is. But, wait a second. It is not dropped because IT IS a neo-Nazi sign, but rather because it is exploited by Russian propaganda! So, what is this article about? 🧵thetimes.co.uk/article/azov-b… Image
1/ the article in the Times references the public unveiling of a new unit of Azov, SSO Azov Kharkiv, announced by Konstantin Nemichev, leader of the Kraken unit of Azov in his Telegram channel: t.me/natsionalKhark… Image
2/ let's remember that Kraken Azov was the unit which filmed its own soldiers shooting at Russian prisoners: observers.france24.com/en/europe/2022…

1/ Today is the 20th anniversary of uprising which defeated the coup in Venezuela. Also Rodney Alvarez will walk free after spending nearly 11 years in jail accused of a crime he did not commit and for which he was never sentenced. #1eroMayoSinTrabajadoresPresos
2/ Rodney Alvarez was a trade union activist at Ferrominera, the state owned iron works in Bolivar state. On June 9, 20011, during a union assembly at the plant gates there was a shoot out and worker Renny Rojas was killed. Eyewitnesses identified Hector Maican as the gunman.
3/ Maican fled to the union offices inside the plant where he was arrested, with the gun, by the Bolivarian National Guard. The state prosecutor accused him of the killing of Renny Rojas a member of the PSUV youth. However, 2 days later Maican was released. Why?

1/ Let me tell you the story of the US attack on the Medicins Sans Frontiers Hospital in Afghanistan. On 3 October 2015, US airstrikes destroyed the MSF trauma hospital in Kunduz, killing 42 people.
2/ "On the night of the attack, there were 105 patients in the hospital and 140 of our [MSF] international and national staff were present, of whom 80 were on duty."
3/ "Starting at 2:08am on Saturday 3 October, a United States AC-130 gunship fired 211 shells on the main hospital building where patients were sleeping in their beds or being operated on in the operating theatre."

1/ In his speech recognising the Donetsk and Luhansk Peoples Republics, Putin made very clear what his thinking is: a wholly reactionary harping back to the Russian Empire. He blamed Lenin and the Bolsheviks for creating Ukraine.
2/He is not wrong about Lenin's careful national self determination policy (which led him to clash with Stalin) and the creation of the USSR with the union on equal footing of Soviet Ukraine and Soviet Russia.
3/ Western imperialists are raising a hue and cry over "territorial integrity" and "sovereignty" but Putin is just copying their own behavior, down to sending troops as "peacekeepers". US bombed, invaded, carried out coups - where was sovereignty then?
