FIRST TONIGHT on an *EPIC* #FridayNightZillow: An *amazing* Norwegian-style home built by hand out of solid redwood by a brilliant pathologist who found the 2018 Spanish flu in lung tissue of bodies buried in Alaskan permafrost. $1.6M. Follow along... 1/ zillow.com/homedetails/22…?
The pathologist, inventor, mountaineer and "one of the world's leading authorities on labyrinths and runes," Johan Hultin, died in January. This New York Times obit of his quest to isolate the 2018 Spanish flu is amazing: nytimes.com/2022/01/27/hea…#FridayNightZillow
"This house is a replica of the Norwegian Vastveitloftet from the Skansen Stockholm open-air museum of Scandinavian architecture." Says it was built to last 1,000 years. #FridayNightZillow
Hultin, per the Zillow listing, also invented a crash-absorbing automobile bumper and a hand brake for chainsaws. The Washington Post's obit of him here is also good: washingtonpost.com/obituaries/202…#FridayNightZillow
It's been a long week. OF COURSE I meant the ***1918*** Spanish flu. Twitter, I would pay you $50 for an edit button right about now, but you still haven't figured out how to take my money for a typo. #FridayNightZillow
I could totally live here. Good vibes, great setting. MUCH MORE #FridayNightZillow to come! Next up: $199K artist's home, then a West Virginia cray cray cray compound.
Next on #FridayNightZillow: A shockingly cheap, renowned artist's home in Milan, Minnesota. It's a living museum to her art, and the local arts school is raising money to preserve it. On Zillow for *$199K*??? That's #CheapZillow! zillow.com/homedetails/10…
These intricate details are throughout the home. Specializing in Rosemaling and Dalamalning, artist Karen Jenson's "Trestuen Garden Gallery" has 50 years worth of her work in it. Gorgeous gardens. Amazing character. Insane price. #FridayNightZillow
PBS profiled Karen Jenson in her cool home. Brought a smile to my face, and we need more of those this week I think. #FridayNightZillow
Next up: the "Keyes Ferry Estate." It's wild and wonderful in West Virginia and it's on #FridayNightZillow! $2.95M in Charles Town. Has it's own chapel, tower, pool, and much more on 30 acres. ~8K sf. zillow.com/homedetails/11…
I guess this is a pagoda? I love it. Pool/greenhouse, sitting area. #FridayNightZillow
I love a house with drama. This one delivers! The ceilings! #FridayNightZillow
Beautiful, oversized kitchen. Plus an antique Tappan! Some of the flooring must go. #FridayNightZillow
This house has some sinks that will wake you up and a green hot tub w/a nice skylight. #FridayNightZillow
Midcentury modern house + a modern mansion w/50 foot lap pool on a hilltop in California. $8.8M. It has MUCHO eye candy, which is why it's on #FridayNightZillowzillow.com/homedetails/39…?
The American Hotel in Sharon Springs, NY. Seems like we'd be idiots not to buy this. $1.25M. 9BR/12BA, classy, furnished on the National Register. #FridayNightZillowzillow.com/homedetails/19…?
Comes with nice plaque and it's already been renovated and everything. #FridayNightZillow
Welp. This is part of the outside entertainment complex at a gaudy NJ party mansion. Lazy river/slide/bridge/grotto? $4.8M. The inside of this house is 💥. #FridayNightZillowzillow.com/homes/15-Embry…?
When New Jersey wants to get its gaud on, it plays for keeps. Look at those columns! #FridayNightZIllow
This bathroom may or may not cause me permanent brain damage. Will know in about a week. #FridayNightZillow
Bowling alley! Proper placement of an ENORMOUS TV. Insanely awesome round seating area surrounding a round internal firepit. (I'd want some fire if I lived in Canada too!) #FridayNightZillow
More eye candy. Hope you enjoyed this edition of #FridayNightZillow and got a break from everything. As usual lately, nearly all of these homes were found by my wife and sister-in-law. See you guys next week.

Nearly all Republicans & some Democrats voted to keep them legal after Sandy Hook.
Below is the 2013 Senate vote on banning new magazines larger than 10 bullets.
It got 46 votes, but just 1 Republican - Mark Kirk.
Needed 60.
The Senate debated the amendment for 2 minutes. Blumenthal argued for the ban on behalf of the mother of Dylan Hockley, a 6-year-old murdered at Newtown. The shooter left the smaller capacity magazines at home, he said. "He knew the larger capacity magazines were more lethal."
Chuck Grassley spoke in opposition to the amendment. He said there was no evidence magazine limits reduced gun deaths, and are "not unusually dangerous"
I wonder how many countries in the world this would still be national headline news for months/years?
DC school shooter was 23 years old; described himself as "an AR-15 aficionado" and a "basedman"; bought an arsenal of guns/ammo legally but modified rifles to become fully automatic; used a baby monitor for video surveillance; posted his exploits to 4chan and Wikipedia.
Votes in the U.S. Senate on gun policies in the wake of the Uvalde massacre could occur on June 8/9
Schumer wants to file cloture when Senate returns from recess in a week on either a bipartisan deal or a House-passed background check bill.
It takes a couple of days to set up a cloture vote unless all 100 senators agree to accelerate it.
Even then it could be cloture on *proceeding to a bill.* Absent consent of all 100, you need cloture both to proceed to a bill and then to end debate on any amendments and then on the final bill. Multiple cloture votes = days and days.
TAHOE MASTERPIECE — Leading #FridayNightZillow this week. We hope you enjoy our family's weekly thread of crazy homes. This one's $64.5M, 16K sf & 5 acres of paradise found. "Crystal Pointe." It's really great. 1/ zillow.com/homedetails/30…?
Seriously, this place is fantastic. A lot of rich people's houses are super tacky, but I like *most* of this one. And the setting is exquisite. #FridayNightZillow
