Starting a new hashtag to keep track of these #StupidSolutions.

Having made the point that if you will not look at what is in front of you, if you deny reality, you are left with nonsense.
These solutions do not reflect the current knowledge or contexts, thus: Stupid.

[Thread]
#StupidSolutions are not like these failures in the early attempts at making an airplane.
In those times they were learning:
Try something, based on some idea or hypothesis
see what happens - experiment
Fail - learn
Try again

That is science. -->

What would be stupid is if they continued to make the same design over and over again expecting it to work differently this time.
Ie, if they did not learn from their experiments and their mistakes.

We look back and find these humorous.
If Boeing were to still be working on
these designs, trying to "perfect" any of these failures they would
a/ be a joke
b/ out of business

Yet this is precisely what these #StupidSolutions being proposed by Grahm, Cruz and, sad to say, Republicans in general are.

Except they are not humorous, but deadly. And...
And destructive, corrosive to the society. Just as such nonsense would fail a business, so such idiotic nonsense fails a country.
It is the central reason why countries fail, from Rome forward, they lose the ability to think, learn, be wise. All of that being clogged by a
dogmatic devotion to principles and purposes that become the reason for a party and faction, rather than the common devotion to knowledge, and wisdom for the general benefit of the commonweal.
(Ref the Preamble Constitution)
No, here on this issue, these "leaders" take up the lunacy by ignoring the actual proximate causes of problems and failures, assigning irrelevant & specious causes, or simply ignoring the causual inquiry & jumping straight to knee jerk #StupidSolutions.
Sadly, the end result of this dogmatic devotion to ignorance is the decomposition of the country as we bifurcate into unbreachable factions, losing our grip, and devotion, to our once common, deep, axiomatic, founding propositions.
We justifiably look back and see the mistakes of history, choices that became the fundamental error that led a people (at all levels, from family to nation) into horrible situations. We know them by name. The easy ones are those choices to go to ill advised wars.
Such moments
and choices change the course of history.

One example in our time is the Iraq War, under GWBush. While some tried to make the obvious point about WMD et al. Those tasked with being wise were not willing to look, and thus governed and made choices based on a horrid concoction of
ego, bad information, a desire to invade - looking for a reason, any reason, even a made up ones...There are many facets to the choices at this level & magnitude.
Get it wrong and it changes everything.

The Iraq war was a #stupidsolution to the causative events. But useful.
So we now have our own choice point. One that has been incubated for a long time.
Another war. In this case on our children, and in a larger frame, all citizens.
Since we have chosen to contort a foundational principle out of all meaning, & then utilize that reworked "amendment"
for other purposes, we are now subject to other consequences.
In this case, a nation riddled with guns. Unmoored from anything like founding principles, not only this 2A one, creating a situation where mass shootings are so commonplace only the most horrible of them are reported.
And our dim witted "Guardians", Senators and Governers among them, the ones we entrust the care and health of the nation to, are unable, unwilling to look; look so as to see; See so as to understand what is happening... and respond accordingly.
No. We get #StupidSolutions like this. Or like arming teachers in the classroom; or creating massive logistical problems by single entry points; or so many other ideas that look exactly like these folks trying to figure out how to fly.
The difference being, we have already
learned those lessons. Or should have.
So we look like the idiot who never seems to learn anything. A 'groundhog day' that never penetrates the consciousness so the issues & causes are finally figured out, however belatedly, and appropriate changes can be implemented.
No. We are treated to the same thin gruel, every single time, and call it "gourmet dinner". Prooffered as the summa bona of their thinking and wisdom on the issues, it is the same nonsense with at best a few new inflections.
And this is how democracies perish.
In the end it is the concretization of nonsense into fundamental values and principles and then defending such to the end.
The fundamental defensive move?
Don't look. Don't see.
If a fact is not acknowledged it does not exist.
So they think.
Such profound, sanctioned ignorace is the driver behind such cancerous nonsense as Qanon, the Trumpism phenomenon, (which is not, by any measure or definition "Conservative") and etc. It is a "flat earth" mentality.
And such a mentality cannot energize or advance a nation. It cannot fulfill our core founding aspiration : To form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility and to promote the general welfare...
If we become unwilling to learn, we become stuck, unable
to adapt to current realities and conditions.
Able only to implement #StupidSolutions to complex problems we end up frustrated and impotent against the corrosive forces. The natural end of that is to become increasingly drastic in the solutions, thinking, for example, that
the only way to resolve the current problem is to revert to the times and solutions of times long gone.

This gives rise to those forces that are powerful and arrayed against liberty and freedom.
Examples are obvious and abound.
We fail to understand Lincoln's great insight and admonition:
That as our times are anew we must think anew. Disenthrall ourselves from the worn out creeds of the past. And then, maybe, will save the country.

@Truetoourpast @CupcakeGlitter6 @Dangchick1 It is also deep human nature to tend to group w/ ones of your "tribe".
Look at how any city organizes itself. NY is prime example.

The unique thing re America is it is established in the first place on principles or ideas, not heritage/tribe.
Of course it doesn't work out in
@Truetoourpast @CupcakeGlitter6 @Dangchick1 2/ practice perfectly. (a euphemism for not very well at all...)
But we have this going for us:
a/ we are trying to figure this out, something most countries do not attempt
b/ this is the deeper meaning of the fundamental precept of why we appeal to "the rule of law"
So ...
@Truetoourpast @CupcakeGlitter6 @Dangchick1 3/ So our civil relationships are not governed by the more common groupings & distinctions of race, class, heritage, location, and all the other ways we group and create hierarchies of value re people.

This is why when the rule of law is violated by privilege there is outrage.

@Dangchick1 To ask a complex, even fundamental question, is to open an array of answers, all of which are needed for as fundamental a reply.
Here is one line:
A fish does not know it is wet.
To be caucasian in a caucasian culture is to fit & not be troubled by being "different".
To be ->
@Dangchick1 2/ caucasian in a different culture - say Japan - is to be different and be always aware of the difference.
How the difference is navigated & experienced is part of a deeper/different inquiry. And may be the one you are trying to get to?
To extend the point (IMO): When the "fish"
@Dangchick1 3/ becomes aware of others experience two things (among many possibilities) happen:
A denial that it is true.
A sorrow that it is.
Along with the subsequent actions.
The range of which we are now seeing in the daily news.

So now we must ask even harder questions.

Lots of stories, comments and essays about Fox & Tucker and how is this possible et al. And all of it on point & necessary to ponder.
Meanwhile, we have to ask other questions. Like what does it tell about America that after all this time, this is still one of the major issues?
It is not sufficient to notice that a thing, like this is happening, but to understand it.
It is a start to notice the condition, but insufficient if we fail to understand that what is happening is long banked coals reigniting.

The racism that is emerging into the "respectable" public square" is not new, it is old things that never have been resolved, showing up in the present tense.

It is why the issues & points made at last major outbreak of the fundamental fight cum the Civil War are relevant today

There is an easy fix to the problem. Thread
Stop lying.
Recognize the authoritarian power grab that installed 3 judges (6 if you go back further)who are out of sync w the country, the times & the law, choosing to impose their Catholic sotted "morals" [joke implied] on the country
The point has been made elsewhere that of the judges now called conservatives [but are far removed from any judicial foundation that could reasonably be called conservative] five are appointed by presidents who did not win their election, but installed by E.College.
The modern Republicans acknowledge they cannot win the vote of the citizenry. That their only way to retain & increase their power is to take control of the institutions of power. Not democratically, but technically.
They have no platform they are willing to articulate.

@BrianJOMalley My bottom line POV:
The Pubs, esp as currently constituted, incl now the 5 Catholic/regressive/installed SC judges, are not premised on such things as the principles of Constitution but a legalistic reading used as a tool.
The vision for what is America & what is democracy are
@BrianJOMalley 2/ not premised on such things as the Preamble to the Constitution, which sets out its purpose and vision for the structure that follows, but upon their own reified desire for power...
You'll recall Delay years ago, Bannon today (just a few ex) have stated their purpose/vision is
@BrianJOMalley 3/for complete control by "the Republican Party" for generations. It has been explicitly stated. Now, it is being systematically worked out.
It is only in moments like Trump/McConnell pushing 3 unworthy people on the court, & the current manifestation of the consequence of that

Noticing a few of the "free speech" pronouncements from @elonmusk. I have made the point that Elon is amazing where he is amazing, & is to be honored for it.
But that does not mean he is a master of those domains, like social philosophy, where he is little more than a "user".
It is easy to toss around ideas like "Free Speech". And the ideas themselves are not necessarily wrong.
But when ones ideas are potentially actionable, as in "fixing" twitter, then they require more depth, more consistency, more clarity as to the embedded premises .
The #systemic
The #systemic principle comes into play:
"A thing (proposition for example) can be true at one level, and not true at another. And true again at yet another..."
A long way round to say, "it depends".

And what these unspoken premises of Elon are take on importance to the
