#ONpoli

#ONpoli

BetMGM is operated by Entain. Other Entain brands include Ladbrokes Coral, which was fined in the UK for "systemic failures" around money laundering.

BetMGM was already fined here in Ontario for its advertising violations.
#ONpoli

iGaming Company #4: Coolbet

Coolbet (Coolbear Ontario Limited) is a Malta-based operator. Malta has long been known as one of the havens for iGaming companies and a centre for money laundering.
#ONpoli

iGaming Company #5: FanDuel

FanDuel and DraftKings were the 2 biggest companies in daily fantasy betting. For many years, they have been seen as a target for money launderers, and were also accused of racketeering.
#ONpoli

iGaming Company #6: LeoVegas

LeoVegas is a Swedish gaming operator that has been fined in multiple countries for money laundering.
#ONpoli

iGaming Company #7: NorthStar Gaming (Toronto Star)

This iGaming business is a division of TorStar. NorthStar is partnered with Playtech - a gambling platform with several scandals in its past.
#ONpoli

Northstar (cont'd):

The hedge fund that purchased TorStar has also seen several scandals since the purchase, including the CEO sharing QAnon-type posts and large amounts of advertorial content for online gambling.
#ONpoli

iGaming Company #8: Bet365

This company (Hillside) has been fined in several countries for deceptive business practices and money laundering.
#ONpoli

iGaming Company #9: bwin

Bwin (operated in Ontario by ElectraWorks Maple Limited) is actually a subsidiary of Entain - same as BetMGM. Entain was formerly known as GVC Holdings. GVC was also in a scandal around the acquisition of one of its UK betting sites.
#ONpoli

Also run by ElectraWorks Maple Limited (Entain) in Ontario are the partypoker/partycasino sites.

Partypoker has moved away from smaller markets to focus on the U.S. and Canada.
#ONpoli

Another Malta-based owner: The Kindred Group.

They have been fined in Denmark and Norway over money laundering.
#ONpoli

#ONpoli

TheScore betting app was acquired by Penn National Gaming for $2B (they also own casinos and the popular Barstool Sports app).

That $2B is already looking like an overpay, as the app flopped in the U.S. markets.
#ONpoli

iGaming Company #15: DraftKings

DraftKings is one of the biggest iGaming names out there, and has many ties to organized crime and black market activity.

The reporting around the #KlondikePapers doesn't seem to have dug into the charity arm of the Plymouth Brethren Church known as the "Rapid Relief Team" that much...

This is where a lot of the positive publicity around the church is generated.

(THREAD 🧵)

You will see this "Rapid Relief Team" handing out food packs to first responders everywhere from the school shooting in Texas, to flood zones in Manitoba, to community housing in Hamilton, and a house fire in Woodstock. ImageImageImageImage

@pressprogress did one report in 2021 on the Plymouth Brethren Church's "Rapid Relief Team" working with Winnipeg Police:

THREAD 🧵 on Doug Ford's mishandling of the economy in Ontario, specifically when it comes to the Construction Industry, and also how Ford has neglected Women and Families while throwing tens of billions of taxpayer dollars to his "buddies".
#ONpoli

To start this thread, let's take a look at the Construction Industry before Doug Ford became Premier in 2018.

In 2016, there was already a massive shortage of labour, and an estimated 9,000-11,000 net new construction workers needed every year just for the GTA alone.
#ONpoli

When Ford got elected in 2018, he immediately started going "all in" on skilled trades and making massive cuts to Colleges and Universities.

Pic from just a few minutes ago inside the @fordnation rally in Hamilton... it is a huge airplane hangar with tons of space (enough to drive the Ford bus right in).

Does this look like a place that needs to arrest @CarymaRules to keep her away?
Maybe @CarymaRules should've come with some "GET IT DONE" signs
Oh - there are a few more people... seems like ex-CFL player Lumsden brought his crew.

THREAD 🧵

On Doug Ford and small businesses:

Today at his press conference, Doug Ford was asked about the Liberals’ accusations that Ford only helped big box stores and didn’t help small businesses… here’s the clip:
#ONpoli

Here’s the key part of that clip:

“We were giving them grants up to $40,000…”

That MIGHT sound like a lot… Doug Ford even talks about he was raised in a small business and understands the struggles…
#ONpoli

So, Doug Ford the self-proclaimed "struggling small business owner" just said how $40,000 proves how much he cares about small businesses...

But, Doug Ford's small business in Illinois was given $545,565 USD (about $700,000 CAD) from the U.S. government's PPP loan!
