In 2008 and 2009, 13000 families mainly from the lower-middle-class bracket invested their lifelong earnings in various real estate projects across Lahore initiated by Eden Real Estate Developers. 1/12

Plots/ Houses were to be delivered in 4 years, money to be paid in 5 years. By 2013, Eden suddenly claimed that due to the Lahore Ring Road, some of their plots have come under the Ring Road and they didn't have enough plots to give to all customers. 2/12

But they neither returned the money to the people whose plots, according to Eden's claim had come under the project nor did they deliver the plots to anyone else although they got a total payment of their land from Govt of Punjab in advance. After failing to get any 3/12

solution from Eden, some of the affectees decided to involve NAB. NAB took ownership of the issue and sealed Eden's properties. In March 2021, NAB Court gave a verdict to auction off Eden's property and distribute the money among the affectees. thenews.com.pk/print/807144-c…. 4/12

Javed Iqbal, head of NAB, rather than following the court's verdict, immediately planned a PB (Plea Bargain) with Eden without any consultation or opinion from Eden's affectees. dawn.com/news/1629040. 5/12

Affectees' demand was to either get the property according to the original agreement or give the money according to the current market rate but NAB agreed on a PKR 16 Billion PB with Eden to be paid in 3 years. What does this mean? 6/12

This means affectees will get the same amount of money they paid during 2008-14 to be paid back in 3 years from 2023 to 2026 while Eden will retain all its property worth PKR 75 billion today which is made using affectees' money. 7/12

JAVED IQBAL SIGNED the PB into action on his last day in the office. Tragically, just two days before signing the PB, a group of affectees met him and he agreed to their grievances and ensured that he will address them. Eden took money from people , sit on it, invested it, 8/12

made more assets off it, refused to give those assets to their rightful owners and now giving back the same amount of money to customers that it took from them in instalments making a mockery of every possible definition of justice. Eden was not a bank.

Eden got full payment from govt of Punjab for their land taken by Govt.
Eden has retained all its properties But 13000 families are devastated, broken and ruined. 10/12

The state of Pakistan needs to act & needs to act fast. It's too long & it's too devastating. People invested their lifelong earnings in hope of a respectable life but in return, they got humiliation and fraud and those who committed the scam received reward from the state. 11/12

People are so helpless and broken right now that all they do is just curse and cry in their WhatsApp groups. We are talking about 13000 families here. If there consists a state in this country, it is time to show up. 12/12
