Suicide was identified in early statin studies and low cholesterol is a risk factor.

This is exactly what people whose loved ones are discovered to have been suffering statin induced cognitive malfunction tell me.

Sure he was also at risk due to alcohol, smoking, and all the seed oils in road food. But according to what I can find on the web, he was on statins in 2014. Doctors rarely take people off these drugs once started. So he was likely on them till the day he committed suicide.

And most people who experience brain changes while on statins, get remarkably better after stopping.

It's an absolute outrage that the AHA trains doctors to fear cholesterol, a nutrient, while overlooking the potential harms of cholesterol lowering with drugs or with diet.
