The idea and people who destroyed Nalanda are the same who are threatening #NupurSharma today. Nothing has changed. And like it was then, so it is now. The only way forward is to tackle them ideologically and to do unto them what they do to you. 
Created by the Gupta kings the site hosted many temples, monasteries, dwellings for teachers and students. All of which was destroyed by Iz!@mic invaders who killed the students, teachers and destroyed the university along with all its temples.
Once these chambers hosted great scholars, teachers and students from all over the world. Now it is in the midst of a village and overgrown with mental and physical weeds.
This land of Bihar when it was lush with nature and with culture must have been really the centre of this world. Now it is such a heartbreaking ruin. The land still has potential if we wake up to our enemies, and unite together as one society.
