Dr. Rolando Cruz, chief of the Quezon City Epidemiological Surveillance Unit, on rising COVID-19 cases in Quezon City: We are concerned (with the rising number of cases) that’s why we pushed our early warning system to a yellow status because we saw an increasing number of cases

Cruz: Our daily average case climbed to 28 last Friday. And today it’s now 35 daily average case

Cruz on QC’s yellow status: In yellow status, cases are increasing and there is a possibility in the next 14 days that cases will increase and probably result to a more serious problem, a community transmission (2/2)

Cruz says the yellow status is followed by red that would mean a sustained community transmission in the city

Cruz: Cases are increasing but still at manageable level. Our hospitals have very low admissions and lockdowns are the last resort for community transmission but we are preparing for the worst case scenario

Cruz says they are monitoring double-digit increases in barangays in Districts 1-4. He adds most of the cases are mild cases and are in home quarantine.

Cruz: We are doing less than a thousand testing at this time. Positivity is around 3.4%.

Cruz says most of the infected are fully vaccinated and received booster shots that’s why they have mild symptoms
