How bad were Tuesday's primary elections for the fate of democracy?
Really bad.
1. Maine Gov: Paul LePage won the GOP nomination for Governor after saying that 2020 was "clearly a stolen election."
THREAD /1
2. ME-02: Bruce Poliquin is the GOP nominee after urging Trump not to concede in 2020 & refusing to say unequivocally that Biden won.
3. Nevada Gov: Trump-endorsed Joe Lombardo won the GOP nod after questioning whether Biden won "fair and square."
/2
4. Nevada Secretary of State: GOP nominee Jim Marchant is an EXTREME election denier who says he would not have certified the 2020 results if he'd been SoS.
5. Nevada - US Senate: Adam Laxalt has been dubbed the "Nevada version of Rudy Giuliani". Enough said.
/3
6. NV-04: Sam Peters will face Rep. Horsford for the 4th District. He tweeted with the #StopTheSteal hashtag and praised lawsuits filed by Sidney Powell.
7. SC-07: Rep. Tom Rice lost his primary to election denier Russell Fry after voting to impeach Trump after 1/6.
/4
8. SC US House: Four other House Republicans won renomination after voting to overturn the 2020 election for Trump.
9. TX-34: QAnon election conspiracy theorist Mayra Flores won a House Special Election. She's now a member of Congress.
This is just a partial list from Tues. //
Yes, these are primaries. And you can certainly make the argument that maybe their extremism means they won’t win in November.
But it’s unequivocally bad that anti democracy extremists are winning nominations, & in a year the GOP has the wind at their backs, some WILL win.

Since Putin's invasion of Ukraine, & especially in the last week, there has been a sharp drop in social media posting about the atrocities being committed by Russia.
At the same time, there has been an uptick in traction for pro-Putin narratives. /1
This is exactly what Russia wants. And what Ukrainians fear.
As Putin gets bogged down in a quagmire of his own choosing...
As global attention wanes...
There will be more space for anti-Ukraine messages to permeate in digital spaces. /2
It is so incredibly essential that we commit to flooding the zone with content that highlights Putin's lies, shines a spotlight on the atrocities he's committing, showcases the valor of the Ukrainian people, and signals the unity of the global community against this invasion. /3
Republicans coming after Biden for his handling of Putin is ironic given Trump’s love affair with the despot, which we shall now recount in a thread of memes. /1
Putin hates America with every fiber of his being and has relentlessly attacked us for years.
The victor in the Civil War wasn’t the ‘North’. It was the United States. We beat a violent, traitorous faction.
But that faction lived on through Jim Crow, the ‘Southern Strategy’, now MAGA…
The GOP, Fox & more are infected by the faction. The insurrection is ongoing.
The key tool being used by the faction now is the Big Lie.
They seek to limit access to the ballot box and institutionalize the ability of the faction’s current party - the GOP - to overturn election results.
They seek to defeat the US from the inside, but it’s the same war.
The goal is to rule from the minority. Their coalition is strong & disciplined and includes:
Fox, OAN, Sinclair, Daily Wire, Breitbart, White Evangelical churches, paramilitary groups, Federalist Society, Judicial Watch, Council for National Policy & the Republican Party & more.
