2. In a proposal to Parliament, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission wants the salaries and allowances of public officers be automatically reviewed after every 4 years as a means to match the increasing cost of living.

The delays in the disbursement are set to leave a marginal hole in financing the budget to June 30 as the Treasury works to acquire a syndicated loan.

2. New IMF inflows and the planned issuance of a KES 117.4B ($1B) syndicated loan are expected to provide some respite to the current dollar shortage.

The IMF is expected to approve the disbursement of a KES 28.6B ($244M) loan this month.

3. Kenya and Uganda have come up with a framework to ensure smooth transit of fish from Lake Turkana to the DRC without interference.

This comes months after Kenyan fish traders demonstrated over confiscation of a DRC-bound consignment by Ugandan authorities.

- KAM said its members were having problems sourcing dollars in the market.

- CBK [@CBKKenya]’s Governor noted that there was sufficient liquidity in the forex market.
2. CBK’s 2021 Annual Supervision Report

- In 2021, the banking environment had 22 local players and 17 foreign players.

- Total net assets in the banking sector were up 11.4% to stand at KES 6T as of December 2021.
