I've had a varied relationship to Esperanto throughout my life. It's a bit difficult for me to talk about. The problem is I learned it before I learned how to even really read. I found a book about it and could write well by age 10. I don't even know for sure when I _started_.

Usually an adult speaks it to a kid, that's how they learn.

Because I was parented by internet I learned it from the internet and also got to speak/write to a lot of adults so my knowledge of the language is perhaps more varied than some native speakers who only talked to dad.

(It's almost always dad. I've read studies.)

I went a period where I didn't speak it for many many years. At least five. I could still remember it and read it. And even though I know five languages it's the only other one I often unconsciously _think_ in.

This is why I claim to be a native E-o speaker despite not meeting usual definition.

I am probably one of very few people that will ever be a self-directed native E-o speaker as giving your kids unmoderated online access is no longer done even by bad parents lol.

I believe the only reason I was able to get so good at it despite first learning it from a book I found at a relative's house is the internet access I had. I could join chat rooms about it etc.

Oh, as an aside, a good thing about this translation is that it retains the "mucked" / "fucked" quality of the original.

If you need a version without the root "fik´" (fuck) you can use fuŝ´:

That fucked up the clearing house!
Ĝi fikis kvitaĉambron!

Ĝi fuŝis kvitaĉambron!
