passion: diaphonic symphonia vol5 (end) novel spoiler thread

ok you know how passion vol 4 is half drama and half action, then vol 5 is like full drama, only for vol 6 to suddenly be crammed full of action?

it's the same way with DS. vol 4 is mainly honeymoon + drama, then suddenly in vol 5 you got all the betrayal + horror action scenes

anyway, continue from last time, oliver, richard's son, deliver a big gift box for tae to his room.

when tae opens it, it turns out to be a suit.

oliver: my father only gift clothes to his lovers.
tae: ...um.

then they decide to ask richard himself wtf is this gift.

-they got to richard's room, but the man is not in.
-instead, it's chris, sitting naked on richard's bed, looking like he just woke up

oliver: ...
tae: ...you ok, chris?

chris is not ok. chris is frantically trying to put on a robe from the bedside table.

oliver & tae are trying hard not to pay attention to bite marks all over chris' body.

then richard comes in, sees them, asks what are they doing here.

tae gestures to the gift box in his hand.
richard: do you like it?
tae: ...well, yes.
chris: WHY DO YOU HAVE THAT BOX

so richard sends that box to tae w/o chris' permission.

tae: oh so it's from chris? thank you. i will wear it well.
chris: GIMME THAT *grabby hands reaching for tae*
tae: what. no. you already gave it to me. *runs*
chris: GIMME *grabby hands about to embrace tae*
richard: stop.

yeeeeaaaaaah richard totally gets jealous there.

chris has just woken up so his touch-phobia may not activate yet, but he's so totally about to embrace tae in order to get to the box behind him.

later on the big day, while important guest from riyadh are being welcomed, tae hides in his room.

ilay: why are you hiding here?
tae: there's a face i don't want to see among the guest.
ilay: hmm.

tae gets a call, it turns out to be jae-hyung.

anyway, did you know jae-hyung dislikes ilay? 😂

they're already so antagonistic over the phone, right in front of tae, too. I can only imagine what would happen if they meet face to face lmao

so jeong jae-ui calls Tae while ilay's in the room.

he basically asks how tae's doing, if he's still in tarten estate, & expresses that he'd like to see tae.

looking at ilay, tae hesitates. but ultimately says "I want to see you too, hyung."

then ilay takes the phone from him.

despite tae's protests, ilay continues monopolizing the phone
-jae-hyung still remembers ilay's voice
-some backhanded compliment from ilay
-then ilay asks about ppl who had been sending jae some "love calls"

jae: ...who?
ilay, displeased: who do you think?
jae: ...rahman?
ilay: uhuh.
tae, remembering the destroyed house and the whole capital city bombing done by ilay, for which his name is also implicated: THAT MAN IS COMING TO GERMANY???

referring to ilay's 1st accusation, jae denies everything, saying that rahman only offered him a contract once but after he refused, he only sent greetings from time to time.

ilay's not buying it, and his face is cold.

ilay, speaking politely in lawyer-ese: If possible, i'd rather you meet them rather than Tae-ui, Mr. Jeong Jae-ui. Don't involve other ppl in your secret fight.
jae: tae could live w/ me if he wants it.
ilay, visibly angry: no. why would tae live w/ you? how does that make sense?

ILAY DROPPING ALL PRETENSE OF POLITENESS WHEN JAE MENTION TAKING TAE AWAY😂

ilay, loudly: I don't like this guy who is your big brother.
Jae: tell riegrow I don't like him either. From the time he took you to Berlin years ago.
Tae: ...surprisingly, you have childish side too huh

my fav part of this exchange is that while tae is saying those words to his big bro, he's totally looking at ilay who is sulking, er, no, stoically standing lol

-later, rahman does visit tarten estate.
-he even personally comes to tae's room to negotiate their release from the international terrorists list for the price of putting some good words about him to jae-hyung.

-while tae is thinking hard about it, ilay, who just happens to be there, says some veiled threat, er, i meant suggestions about riyadh's succession and possible resurgence, for which rahman responds coolly.
-tae, looking at such smiling ilay: ...

tae to ilay: don't worry if you got locked up somewhere later, bcs I'd right there with you.
ilay: ...?
tae to rahman: thx but no, thx.

rahman: you'd regret this.
tae: I probably would. But I don't want to go against my conscience.

after rahman's gone:
tae: i hate that man.
ilay: that's unusual. why?
tae: it feels like he's going to take something precious away from me.
ilay, looking at him funny: ...
tae: what?
ilay: hmm.

plot point:
-chris is terrified of his own mother, who worships Tarten name
-richard often uses chris mother to control chris
-at the decision day, tae going to the stable to pick up chris only to overhear chris's mom berates chris for sullying tarten name by doing "the dirty"

-basically chris' mom caught chris having sex w/ richard, and thinks chris is dirtying richard, so she asks chris to get out of tarten estate and never come back to dresden
-chris is frozen
-tae, reaching out to chris: just for today, i'll lend you my hand
chris takes it.

at the actual ceremony, tae tries to sit beside ilay, but chris whispers harshly "unlucky! don't sit near the airflow, the fengshui is bad!"
tae: no.
chris, impatient, takes tae's arm and seats him at ilay's other side.

while important ppl at the front are swearing richard in and giving speeches, tae hears the roar of helicopter at the rooftop, and feels a sudden foreboding, looking at ilay who's tidying his gloves.

tae: ...ilay?

ilay, smiling, suddenly gives his own speech to tae about the relationship between tarten and riegrow and his own role in all these negotiations w/ the riyadh's side.

he's saying he needs to kidnap jeong jae-ui to appease Riyadh.

tae, getting desperate: take me with you!
ilay: I can't have you swaying my decision, and you will try to change my mind. You'll be safe here.

ilay's getting ready to to get to the helicopter, and tae could see several ppl starting to block tae.

tae, elbowing one of the men in the face & punching another: ilay! pls take me w/ you! I promise i won't hinder you in any way!

they're totally stealing attention away from the ongoing ceremony happening at the front. the guests are looking his way now

ilay, taking off his gloves: I like to be bare-handed when I'm touching you.

then he proceeds to help the men subdue tae by restraining one of his hand behind his back.

but then aziz stabs a needle into ilay's neck, and tae freezes.

the room is totally silent now, and it's only now the last part of richard's speech registered into tae's brain:
-richard is choosing riyadh over riegrow
-he's voiding his deal w/ ilay
-capturing ilay is part of the deal w/ riyadh

in short: ilay is getting betrayed

then like the monster that he is, he charges to richard, killing several ppl on his way while also getting stabbed by anesthetic several times more.

tae tries to stop him and manages to get to him, only to get stabbed also by a needle.

tae: let go and sleep, you fool.

ilay collapses into him, and tae is barely standing w/ the anesthetic starting to work on him too, while ppl aare closing in to capture them both.

chris: I told you that spot is unlucky.

chris: you told me you'd lend me your hand today, right?

the moment tae takes his hand, chris drops unconscious ilay like useless trash (lol), takes tae into his arms and runs to the helicopter, injuring several ppl on his way, and hightails it out of tarten estate.

-chris brings them to berlin, and uses a parachute to land over Kyle's house, damaging his roof.
-they get stuck at peter's trees
-kyle is, as usual, only worries over his precious books lol
-Rita helps them come down, brings them hot tea, and stares disapprovingly at tae lol

-they bring kyle up to speed
-kyle excuses himself, saying he's stressed over ilay's unknown fate

chris: it's not that he's worried about Rick; It's more that he doesn't want to deal w/ T&R deal fallout

lmao

-drama over richard coming to get chris for two day in a row
-richard getting jealous of kyle who's comforting crying chris
-kyle acting like a true affectionate, dependable older brother to both Tae and Chris
-kyle providing what he needs after tae decides to go to Jae-hyung

-tae doesn't even mean to go to Frankfurt; he's trying to keep his promise to ilay to meet his big bro another time.
-but then richard goad him by saying that ilay actually had escaped tarten estate & is on his way to kill jae-ui.

richard: "he didn't stop by here 1st? how odd."

tae, noticing kyle's shifty eyes and chris' heavy silence: something you want to tell me, kyle?
kyle: ...he did stop by before dawn. went straight to your room. gone an hour later.
tae, recalling a vivid *dream* of ilay fucking him this morning: ...
kyle: *awkward laugh*

so tae & chris go to frankfurt & stop by Alain's safehouse

Ilay's mobile squad members so far:
-chris
-alain - knife maniac, tae thinks the guy's facial muscle frozen in a smile
-mark
-ivan
-julien - guy helping ilay bombing riyadh

-the moment alain sees tae, he instantly shouts "you're THAT jeong tae-ui?" and continues to stare blatantly.
-chris saying to tae "he's part of Rick's squad" like it explains everything lol

as they're getting ready, a call comes in, and it's ilay.

-ilay & alain talk logistics, then tae cuts in, asking if he's really going to kill his big brother.
-ilay is adamant that getting rid of jae-hyung would also get rid of Riyadh faction, therefore eliminating current immediate threat to tae

tae: why didn't you wake me up?
ilay: you told me to go slow since you were tired and you *did* cum, so I thought you were conscious. I also used a condom & cleaned you up. But I guess you were really out of it huh.
tae: ...
chris & alain: ...

-tae, thinking his pride and shame are already in shambles anyway, tries to appeal using ilay's supposed affection for him.
-ilay goes quiet for some time
-he cuts the line after saying this is the reason he doesn't want to take tae w/ him

-tae, chris & alain get to the conference place safely, leaving a trail of injured ppl and property destruction on their way
-tae meets uncle chang-in, who tells him to register as Jae since Jae gets held up at the last sec and could only come the day after.

tae: you want me to pose as jae-hyung? what should i do if someone asks? just recite some theoretical formula? *goes to recite said formula really well*
chang-in: ...it's fortunate you two are easy to distinguish at a glance.

LOL uncle must think tae as jae is very convincing

reminder again that despite tae's claim that he is very normal compared to, according to uncle chang-in, Tae's no slouch. His grades are always above average, he could follow after jae just fine, and he's doing well at the military until the incident happened

-so tae registers as Jae, and uses the accommodation reserved for Jae.
-and then gets kidnapped as Jae 😂
-it's very very unfortunate that his luck is very unlike Jae's 😂

-Tae wakes up some time later in a dark room, with his ankles and hands bound
-turns out the ones who kidnapped him are Rahman's opposition
-i really like this line:
Jeong Tae-ui, an ordinary person who was not exceptionally lucky like Jeong Jae-ui, never risked his life to fate.

-which is why rather than waiting to be rescued, he tries to escape when he sees an opportunity
-he gets beaten for his effort since he's alone vs numerous, but he manages to snatch some lighter at least

-he tries to appeal he's just an unimportant stand-in for Jae-hyung
-except then a message from UNHRDO comes, asking for him not to be harmed - meaning he's important enough for UNHRDO to give a damn, so now the kidnappers can't recklessly set him free

then something nearby exploded, followed by sounds of gunfire and ppl shouting.

Tae, who is in the middle of burning the rope on his ankles slowly w/ a lighter, suddenly has an ominous feeling.

meanwhile on some rooftop nearby.
alain: Aha, Rick is slaughtering inside. But why is he suddenly going over there and volunteering for free?
chris: ...well.
alain: is the target still inside?
chris: well. the game's changed, so ofc he had to go.

-tae still doesn't know it's ilay, so he's mostly being cautious.
-his hands are still tied behind his back, and he's still gagged, but once he manages to release his ankles, he runs
-on the lower level, while he hides, suddenly the electricity got cut & the whole place is dark

-some ppl are screaming in the room he's in, followed by the sound of blades tearing flesh
-he recognizes ilay's voice taunting them, so he steps out
-only to realize his mistake: he's still gagged, ilay's still trying to kill Jae, ilay won't be able to see it's Tae in the dark

-and he's right
-ilay, thinking he's Jae-ui, starts pursuing him w/ his sword flashing
-tae runs for his life, knowing that ilay would slit his throat first before releasing his gag and let him speak

Ilay: Even when I shot you in the past, the gun that was in good condition suddenly exploded & I was actually injured. I really thought it was great luck.
tae: did something like that happen?! Now that I see, you've been aiming for my brother's life for a long time you bastard?!

tae: shit. Why am I risking my life to play a survival game in the middle of the night? How did you come to be like this?

all is said in his heart only tho, since he still couldn't say a word lol

ilay : Don’t touch Tae. Don't try to use him in any way, Mr. Jeong Jae-ui. I don't like the fact that you listen to almost everything Tae says, and that he will listen to almost everything you say, too. If you're not his brother, I would have killed you by any means possible.

ilay: ...But if I kill you with my own hands, Tae-ui will surely hate me... That's why I saved you, today.

Tae, who hears all of that and more, thinks he's totally going to die today - not from ilay killing him, but from the embarrassment of hearing ilay's confession 🤣🤣🤣

then he kicks ilay w/ all his might, evading his sword, and runs again.

he gets caught easily, despite his desperate struggles, and just as ilay is pressing his blade to tae's neck, breaking skin, rahman's troops come blazing in, demanding ilay releasing jeong jae-ui.

ilay tsks, shoving him aside, and jumps into the gunfire.

the lights are still out, so the only source of light are the occasional flash of blade and bullets being shots.

Tae even forgets his own injuries, and could only pray that ilay don't get killed, and that he doesn't kill Rahman either.

-then the noises quiet down
-someone is approaching tae w/ heavy steps, as if hurt
-it's ilay
-but then rahman is lifting tae up by his arms, asking if he's hurt, hugging him, saying "did you really not know?"
-rahman caressing his face, realizes he's being gagged, takes it off

-somehow tae realizes, amidst his own crying, he REALLY doesn't want to know what it is his brother supposedly knows about rahman
-before he could even say a word, rahman kisses him on the lips, right in front of ilay god and everybody
-which ofc is the moment the light comes on

-tae, whole body bruised all over, knife stab wound on the back and neck courtesy of ilay: ...
-ilay, half of his insides hanging out, wiping his bloody knife on his collar: ...
-Rahman, bloodied all over courtesy of ilay: ...

suffice to say everybody loses their mind there 🤣

-tae & jae are twins, so technically they have the same face, but different body types -> said tae
-in webtoon at least it's easy to distinguish since their hairstyle is different, plus tae's face looks more lively than jae's
-context: in the dark, mistakes were made lol

-meanwhile, another richard & chris drama happening in the background
-while chris is talking to aziz during the warehouse raid, Rahman's boss?? guardian?? regent?? approaches him and tries to recruit him
-chris says he'd think about it
(spoiler: later he accepts & goes to Saudi)

-A couple of days later, Tae wakes up in hospital
-Jae is beside him, explains what happens when Tae's unconscious, and yes, Rahman's here at this hospital, receiving treatment
-just as tae is about to ask for Ilay...

"was his tongue delicious?" says ilay from the corner of the room.

-tae freezes, remembering the way Rahman devouring his mouth when he still thought he was Jae.
-he REALLY doesn't want to know what's going on between his brother and that man
-ilay is still smiling infuriatingly

-but for a guy who had half his insides hanging out just a couple days ago, he looks very healthy, despite the bandages
-his condition is definitely better than tae now anyway, despite his injuries being worse
-it was also ilay who brought tae to the hospital

-tae glares at him anyway, wanting him to be more mindful of his own injuries even if he couldn't feel the pain
-ilay muttering "it will get better after a few stitches" and proceeds to lay down beside tae
-tae scoots over & just lies on ilay, since cramped hospital bed & all

-which is the moment he feels the sting of his big brother's gaze
-it's... awkward
-jae seems curious about ilay's first words earlier, but he stays quiet
-tae wants to warn him about rahman, but 1) he doesn't want to explain, 2) he doesn't want to get involved

-jae excuses himself to go see Rahman, while also informing Tae he'd agreed to go to Saudi w/ Rahman
-tae, no longer worries his bro is gonna be used for political things, now worries for his bro's body for entirely different reason
tae: just. be careful.
ilay: *laughs*

the epilogue
-ilay and tae recovering together, and their names being taken off wanted international terrorist list
-chris going to Saudi, evading Richard
-Jae going to Saudi to be together w/ Rahman
