YouTubers and content creators all over social media are pledging to leave Canada should @JustinTrudeau's internet censorship legislation #BillC11 become law.
In the last few years I have been listening to the struggles of unvaccinated Canadians who were stigmatized, discriminated against and treated as other by a society that prides itself on being accepting.
A Windsor, Ontario personal support worker who served the elderly for nearly 20 years was struggling to put food on the table after being terminated for refusing to declare her vaccination status.
Unvaccinated Canadian soldiers were subject to a dishonorable "unsuitable for further service" release from the military for making a personal health decision.
The most tiresome things you hear from some blue checks is that populists, conservative media, etc are "eroding trust in institutions."
It not only misrepresents the notion of trust (something earned through reliability) but it paints legit criticism as nefarious.
Institutions that are no longer dependable in guaranteeing people their rights or a pathway to live a fulfilling life are not trustworthy, period.
The erosion of trust is entirely on them.
It's also an argument that would not fly when you use it in any other circumstance. It's like accusing somebody your spouse cheated on you with of "eroding trust in" the institution of marriage.
A third party can't erode what's essentially a two-way street.
Hilarious how the legacy media will pat themselves on the back for saying what independent outlets like @TrueNorthCentre have been reporting on for a year.
It must be nice to get credit when the dust has settled and it becomes politically acceptable.
Time and time again brave independent people take heat and risk getting cancelled while the media waits in the wings to swoop in when its safe. This happened with gender ideology, lockdowns and now COVID mandates.
The truth is legacy media is not capable of being innovative and pushing the envelope. It is a rigid and risk-averse industry.
They won't admit it but they actually need alternative media to pave a path and break new ground so they can then take it for themselves.
In the statement, Terheș blasts Trudeau for having horses trample protestors during the Freedom Convoy crackdown
I've translated it and will tweet relevant parts below
THREAD
"I refused to validate by my presence the facade of the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who gave a speech before the Plenary of the European Parliament on 23.03.2022, it was the reason for which I was not in the room when he spoke."
"You can't come and teach democracy lessons to Putin from the European Parliament when you trample with horse hooves your own citizens who are demanding that their fundamental rights be respected."
This is glorious. God bless Croatians. Every trip to Europe PM @JustinTrudeau is being called out for quashing peaceful protestors in Canada. This time right to his face. That must have stung.
@JustinTrudeau@LauraHuhtasaari Romanian MEP @CristianTerhes also likened Trudeau to a "tyrant" and a "dictator" during a speech in Brussels in February also in reaction to his use of the Emergencies Act.
Trudeau is terrified by the fact that populism is taking root in Canada and giving ordinary people a voice.
He ignores the fact that he and the Liberals have driven Canada into the gutter. Populism is only a reaction to our elites who have lost the plot.
It's funny that a guy who has spent the last 7 years race-baiting, dividing Canadians and evading parliamentary procedure to get what he wants is accusing a grassroots working-class movement of trying to exploit people. Trudeau is a case study on projection.
Liberals always try to portray themselves as the protectors of "democracy" when in reality they are the manipulators of democracy. If you haven't noticed, things have actually gotten less democratic in the last century due to the influence of powerful wealthy oligarchs.
