I'd like to be disgusted and shocked at the hundreds of homophobic, vile and idiotic comments and jokes...
But hey, what do you expect from a conservative, right wing city that worships a family of authoritarianism + toxic masculinity?
There's just so many of these.
Hit "All Comments" and the ratio of hateful comments to supportive ones is probably 70%-30%.
I do recognize my privilege that I'm a cis whey gay so asshats don't really hassle me.
Mostly when they find out, it's the disapproving looks, the micro-aggressions: "Ay, sayang ka", small shit like that.
The worst I've experienced was walking out of an "upscale" bar here with a male date.
Just walking, holding my date's hand when a group of rich frat boy types (prolly drunk) yell out "yack, mga bayot" and a loud round of derisive laughter.
Ya boy doesn't take casually hateful shit like that.
Charged the group of 4 asshats (not the best decision but 🤷♂️) yelling "Os, bayot man mi. Naay problema?" - [Yeah, we're gay. Got a problem?].
Not the best way to handle it, but these guys are used to getting their way.
My date pulled me away (4 vs me, not the best odds butspoiled rich boys prolly never been in a real fight. Lol).
But if someone like me that can stand up for myself gets treated like this, I'm ashamed and saddened other 🏳🌈people like us get more and worse casual hate.
