With #abortion banned in many places, and more on the way, we need to have a talk. Let’s talk about what to do, right now. There is so much we can do.

Here's a thread to get us started. /1

Donate to #abortionfunds. Look to places like @MidwestAccess, who help with transportation and childcare, as well as @AbortionFunds, which will direct you to local funds.

Connect with the people and organizations that have already been doing repro work for a long time. This is not the time to be making new roads.

Some good places to start are @KeepOurClinics, @ReproRights, and @RewireNewsGroup, all well established sources of information. /3

The MOST CRITICAL piece right now is working to prevent and/or de-criminalizing pregnancy and pregnancy care. Patients and clinicians will be fined and jailed the way things are heading.

Health care folks, this means that you need to seek out training about how NOT to call cops and how to avoid getting patients in legal trouble (even if inadvertently).

Look into @prhdocs and @NACDL for resources. /5

Along that line, please stop offering to take people camping in other states. The sentiment is appreciated but not practical and dangerous. People deserve privacy and support. They need money.

Public promises of “camping” also puts YOU, the helpful advocate at risk. That does not help the cause, any patients, or yourself. Please protect yourself.

Having a felony is not helpful. It also makes this about *you* instead of about getting healthcare. /7

Delete all period trackers and other menstrual data gathering apps from your phone. There are other options to track periods - don’t do it in a way that could jeopardize your safety.

This is the first step in securing your digital safety. /8

Share these options with people you know who need help. /10

For self-managed #abortion care, go to PlanCPills.org and AidAccess.org. This is SAFE, legal in all states, and effective care using physicians and pharmacists to help. It also ensures privacy and individual dignity for people needing an abortion.

PLEASE keep your messages centered on safe access, fundraising for abortion funds, and privacy. Don’t turn to coat hangers and Handmaid’s Tale references - that is neither helpful nor inspiring. Center the work and the people.

Remember that the truest rebellion is joy, community, and love. Finding these in the dark moments is how we sustain our work. Rage burns out eventually but love is the way forward and through.
