I had the great privilege of learning and writing my dissertation under Professor Halivni Z”L. An unforgettable experience. 
The most remarkable thing was the way how he loved, respected and treated his wife. I only knew him when his wife was sick and could not recognize him anymore. He went to visit her every day. Rain or shine. Every day.
He would not move to Israel until he found a way to also move her with him. A Herculean difficult task. The members of Hatzalah were so impressed that they volunteered to accompany her and take care of all the arrangements. True tzadikim.
In Israel he continued visiting her every day, including Shabbat, when he walked almost 2 hours each way to be with her. Even though she did not respond or react. I had the privilege to walk him part way several times. Unforgettable experience.
