#Novavax#UniversalCovidVaccine: More durable than mRNA vaccines with 90% efficacy after booster at 8 months without need to update for every new strain and far safer. They use conserved epitopes common in ALL variants. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…
It can provide mucosal immunity which means sterilizing immunity. It's the only way to get out of our current predicament. We all need to send the message to our governments to reject the mRNA experiment that can't keep up with the high degree of mutations
The mRNA answer is to use an "updated" vaccine for Ba.1 that is already gone. Their proposal is to just use manufacturing data and skip trials. This means they want us to be guinea pigs for "updates". We are not guinea pigs. "Move fast and break fast" is not for public health.
Explainer video on #Novavax antibody levels for initial priming and boosting at 8 months which translates to antibody levels for BA.5 equivalent to what was seen for the ancestral Wuhan strain. Efficacy for ancestral was 96%.
FDA's outside expert Dr. James Hildreth is impressed with how effective the #Novavax#UniversalCovidVaccine is for circulating variants of concern such as Ba.2 and Ba.5
Thread for time indexed videos that explains the graphics above.

Dr. Marasco from Harvard was even more impressed with what he heard from Novavax during the meeting. youtube.com/clip/UgkxoaISz…
This video talks about the supercharged antibodies a previously infected person would get from a Novavax booster.

People wonder why it needs 3 shots to get the high antibodies vs newer variants. It's because the immune system needs to be trained against the non-mutating epitopes/regions of the spike. Because mRNA does not include this, you have to start over on square one after each shot.
Here's a different way of looking at how Novavax provides protection across all variants. It simply presents something that's common across all variants that the immune system can key on in the future. mRNA vaccines simply do not present the non-mutating regions(not very durable)
Finally starting to see articles that point to Novavax’s broad protection against all variants. mRNA vaccines fall short in durability and protection against variants and need reformulation to keep up. newatlas.com/science/novava…
News orgs are finally seeing the differentiators and benefits of Novavax.
This video snippet is from the July 19, 2022 CDC approval meeting which adds more color for extrapolating efficacy of #Novavax's IgG antibody titers vs Omicron.
This video snippet from the same CDC meeting addresses the safety and usage of the Matrix-M adjuvant from #Novavax
Additional video snippets from the July 19, 2022 CDC approval meeting for Novavax.
Great graphics that simplify how the different vaccines work from @michaelzlin. This shows that the traditional protein based vaccine from #Novavax is the least intrusive of the different vaccines being used today for Covid19.
Looks like it's a great booster especially for SinoPharm recipients. I think over 1 billion Chinese citizens could be interested!
#Novavax looks even better as a booster for Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, SinoPharm, SinoVax primed. Moderna isn't here but I'd expect similar great results as with the Pfizer mRNA primed.
Dr Paul Offit from the FDA vaccine committee is saying that boosting with #Novavax ancestral strain will be better than any bivalent vaccine that the mRNA companies will have. Novavax will have a bivalent cuz FDA requires it as mRNA vaccines can’t keep up.
Many experts ask for a pan-coronavirus vaccine but never dive deeper. #Novavax already does that. It reduces the antigenic distance of variants to give broad protection against future variants. We already have a pan-coronavirus vaccine people. Explainer:
Another thing #Novavax did is they further engineered the protein to make it harder for the S1 and S2 parts to break off from each other at the furin cleavage site. That's how it can better teach the immune system to achieve better durability against variants. S2 doesn’t mutate.
Why is S2 important? Here’s a great print that says it’s hugely important for a pan-coronavirus vaccine. The author of the paper says any mutations with S2 makes the virus non-viable. This essentially means #Novavax is a pan-coronavirus vaccine. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Presenting the S2 subunit/conserved epitopes is hugely important for pan-coronavirus vaccines. Guess which vaccine already does this? 😉#Novavax Great thread on this topic.
From a safety perspective, #Novavax has the best safety profile of any Covid vaccine. Novavax chief safety officer says you can expect to see natural background events of myocarditis in any sufficiently large database.
This is real world safety data and comparisons against the existing vaccines. Thread:
#Novavax is the safest Covid19 vaccine you can get. My prediction is that it will become a household name for this reason in addition to the broad efficacy against current and future variants.
Compare the real world safety of Novavax with that of Pfizer. This study has found cardiovascular adverse effects in roughly 1/3 of teens after Pfizer vaccination. Heart inflammation is 1/43.
Novavax is already a pan-coronavirus vaccine for Covid19. Graphic explains how Novavax protects from ALL current & future variants with durability that is so sadly missing from existing mRNA vaccines. Great print on what's needed for a pan-coronavirus: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
When experts say we need a pan-coronavirus vaccine, it is actually more ambitious than Covid-19. They want it to protect against future corona viruses like SARS & MERS. Novavax is IT for Covid-19.
Glad to see that they are finally telling us this. What took so long? Yes- Novavax protects against future variants also! telegraphindia.com/india/two-larg…
Changing the criteria to accommodate inferior mRNA vaccines is a losing strategy. They still can’t keep up with the rate of mutations. They need to lead with the Novavax vaccine that doesn’t need constant updates. npr.org/sections/healt…
People ask how long you have to wait to take Novavax as a booster after mRNA primaries. This CDC guidance says to wait at least four weeks for those that took a dose of vaccine that is no longer available or not advised for treatment. cdc.gov/vaccines/covid…
How long to wait after you took mRNA? At least four weeks.
People that vaxxed with Novavax say it just works. They get exposed to it through close contacts like family, friends or co-workers and they don’t catch Covid.
Tests showed ability to stop transmissions with Novavax. It’s also pointing to their proprietary Matrix-M adjuvant as the reason. Though tests were conducted in mice, they expressed human ACE2 receptors which closely mimic human receptors. news-medical.net/news/20200702/…
It’s not possible to get efficacy for every variant without long clinical trial but you can extrapolate based on the immune response against different variants. The video provides guidance for extrapolating efficacy.
Novavax says they have evidence that they’re 90%+ effective against the latest Omicron variants and data to support that their durability for up to a year. m.economictimes.com/news/india/nov…
The science hasn’t changed. So what changed? Jha touted the effectiveness of Novavax and it ability to fight variants in June 2021. How is it that Americans that paid for this vaccine not able to benefit? Why accept Pfizer results from 8 mice for their bivalent vaccine?
Dr James Hildreth @US_FDA VRBPAC meeting on Bivalents
“Most impressive data I saw today was presented by Dr Glen from Novavax” -After reviewing bivalent data from both Pfizer and Moderna. Why does FDA continue to slow their approvals?
NIAID funded test of different vaccines show Novavax is best overall for ALL variants. With BA.2.75 on the horizon, it seems Novavax is best for that. Researchers also say that variant specific boost isn't significantly better than original formulation. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
As Novavax have been telling @US_FDA all along, variant tuned updates are only just slightly better than original formulation. FDA needs to just approve a superior Novavax booster that’s broadly effective against all variants! nature.com/articles/d4158…
Doctor @michaelzlin has written about all of the different Covid vaccines and therapeutics. A great follow for technical information for new discoveries on the topic. Here are his threads about Novavax.
Not sure how I missed human clinical trials from Novavax that showed high IgG levels vs Omicron with just 2 shots. Goes to show they need better communications. It’s from their adolescent study that were done on humans and not nice like the mRNA vaccines.
The Matrix-M adjuvant from Novavax doesn’t get talked about enough. How significant is it? Consider that up until 2014, the best efficacy against malaria was 39%. cdc.gov/parasites/feat…
When Oxford University decided to use their R21 malaria candidate to pair with the Matrix-M adjuvant adjuvant, they were able to achieve a 77% efficacy. This has been very difficult to do in the past without Matrix-M ox.ac.uk/news/2021-04-2…
Now read carefully about what the Matrix-M was able to achieve. When using just the antigen alone, it was able to reduce from 10,000 to 1,000 viral units in the lung. With the adjuvant, it was able to reduce it to undetectable levels. Sterilizing immunity.
Lots of experts seem to miss on why Novavax is able to achieve such broad protection against all variants. The answer is their Matrix-M secret sauce in addition to presenting conserved epitopes.
Dr Fauci talks about the low durability of mRNA and the hope of adjuvants to improve that durability. Did he get a sneak peak into Novavax data?
It's pointed out-NIAID test favored mRNA but Novavax still had the best results. For Novavax, plasma samples were not collected at peak titers & booster was after several months( because mRNA not durable)- not at the 8th month interval which was optimal.
Questions about how safe mRNA technology is still exists. What if we need trivalent vaccine down the road? Will they still be able to balance safety with efficacy?
The latest European Medicines Agency report shows that there are NO safety concerns with Novavax. When you couple that with it's broad protection against all variants, why would anyone want to choose more risk with mRNA? ema.europa.eu/en/documents/c…
👀 Wow!!! No masks, bars, restaurants and air travel after Novavax and never caught Covid?
Finally a comparison of Novavax vs mRNA for protection in the upper airways. Only Novavax showed protection in the upper airways. While other studies evaluated peak protection, this one actually evaluated protection after 3 months. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Neither mRNA nor viral vector vaccine from Astra Zeneca offer this kind of protection.
Two doses of Novavax is shown to be universal-like with superior antibody levels vs 3x mRNA in trial participants. It is broad spectrum so annual boosting is actually achievable. High durability of protein platform similar to Novavax vs mRNA is here: news.weill.cornell.edu/news/2022/12/e…
My previous thread for all things Novavax is here. Saves people research time as it includes studies and videos to explain why Novavax is better than mRNA vaccines.
This tweet says it all. He isn't about what's best as Novavax showed that it didn't need updates until XBB drifted as far away from OG as SARS is. But he ignores that and just wants mRNA to "win." His opinion is one-sided. He probably owns a ton of mRNA stocks.
