🧵 German ministers have proposed a law allowing trans people to be able to change their gender based on a simple process at a registration office, rather than having to go through lengthy court proceedings or medical diagnosis.
This practice is slowly becoming the norm, at least in Europe, and it is an indictment of the UK government that it is so out of step with the progressive changes other countries are making.

🏳️⚧️ No more medical assessment/ diagnosis.
🏳️⚧️ One procedure for all: trans, non-binary and inter persons.
🏳️⚧️ Accessible for minors: 14years+ parents must consent; <14 years parents file declaration; court can replace lacking parental consent if in best interest of the child.
🏳️⚧️ Prohibition of disclosure with fines.
🏳️⚧️ Compensation for forced sterilization & divorce of previous law.
