Writers must be held accountable for what they write & say. Words have power. If we fail to combat their rhetoric, then we are condoning it.

Mary Gaitskill, Substack’s writer in residence, denigrates male domestic violence & Mr. Depp in this interview. I will not remain silent.

Clearly Mary Gaitskill didn't watch the Depp v Heard trial and the overwhelming evidence Ms. Heard is a violent perpetrator of abuse, and 6 years of malicious false allegations that impacted Mr. Depp, his family, & all genuine victims/survivors of abuse.

The vitriol Amber Heard is facing is b/c she violently abused a man, then made malicious, heinous false accusations of domestic & sexual violence against him. It's justified. Amber Heard must be held accountable, the same way a man in this circumstance would be held accountable.

Mary Gaitskill doesn't stop there. She also goes on to suggest the only reason people "love" Johnny Depp "is because of his sexual success and his beauty." WRONG! Mr. Depp is beloved by men, women, abuse survivors b/c of his generosity, compassion, honesty, & talent.

I'm a man, I find Mary Gaitskill's comment "men admire other men who can dominate women & who can have sex with as many women as they want." It's an antediluvian perception. Most men do NOT admire other men for these reasons. It's gender perceptions like this that harm us all.

Johnny Depp did NOT win in Virginia b/c he was "sexually attractive" as Mary Gaitskill suggests, he won because he had credible evidence, witness of merit, and the TRUTH was exposed...Amber Heard is the sole perpetrator of abuse. She LIED for personal & professional gain.

Mary Gaitskill is an American novelist, essayist, & short story writer. Her fiction is typically about female characters dealing with their own inner conflicts, & her subject matter matter-of-factly includes many "taboo" subjects such as prostitution, addiction, BDSM &...

responsibility. She describes ways that individual subjectivity influences all experiences, making it impossible to come to "universally agreed-upon conclusions."

Gaitskill is a misandrist/4th-wave feminist.
