NEW | @kystatepolice have given an update on Thursday’s deadly officer-involved shooting in Floyd County. #WKYT

In an email, troopers say:
“The preliminary investigation by KSP has determined two law enforcement officers and one K-9 have been pronounced deceased after sustaining injuries from last night’s officer-involved shooting. #WKYT
Four other law enforcement officers have received injuries; three of which remain in the hospital. One of the officers is in critical condition, two officers are in stable condition and one officer was treated and released. #WKYT
Additionally, one civilian was injured during the incident and is receiving medical care at a hospital.” #WKYT

Floyd Co. Sheriff John Hunt and County Attorney Keith Bartley held a press briefing over last night’s shooting that killed two deputies.

Hunt says four deputies were first responding officers to serve warrant, and they called for backup when shots were fired at them. #WKYT Image
After calling for help, Hunt says officers from all over responded, even the Floyd County emergency management director.

“We didn’t know where shots were coming from, if it was inside or outside,” said Hunt. “They took cover and were under consistent fire for hours.” #WKYT Image
Hunt says the standoff was resolved after KSP started negotiations with the suspect, Lance Storz. Negations included using family members. Eventually he came outside of his home, and he was taken into custody. #WKYT Image

SUSPECT IDENTIFIED | We are learning more about the suspect accused in the Allen shooting that left multiple people injured.

The Pike County Detention Center’s website identified the suspected shooter as Lance Storz, 49, from Allen.
He faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder of a police officer and an additional count of murder of another person. He is also charged with assaulting a service animal.

An arrest citation says Storz used a rifle to fire multiple rounds at multiple police officers at his home.

Police say in the citation the rounds fired by Storz killed two officers, injured five additional officers, one emergency management director, and killed a K-9 unit.

A TRUE AMERICAN HERO | I was so sad to wake up to the news that Woody Williams passed away early this morning.

“Today at 3:15am, Hershel Woodrow Williams, affectionately known by many as Woody went home to be with the Lord,” The Woody Williams Foundation shared. Image
“Woody peacefully joined his beloved wife Ruby while surrounded by his family at the VA Medical Center which bears his name.”

He was the last living WWII Medal of Honor recipient.
I covered many events where Woody was in attendance honoring our service members, and the Gold Star families of those we lost. It was always a joy to see him and listen to his stories.
