[just for further context — i take methotrexate to manage both GVHD & lupus nephritis. over the years, the prescribing dr has varied re: department, but whatever, same hosp system, all my dr’s communicate, etc. 1/?
the refill denial came thru my rheum on friday. so obviously my next move was to call the other doctors on my team. there was a lot of confusion/mixed messaging/a general “we don’t know what the fuck is going on or what the rules are” vibe 2/?
but ultimately the answer i was given was, “we have been told by hospital administration to discontinue this prescription per TN state law.” 3/?
i understand that medical providers have to protect their own asses, i do, i get it. and i also understand that they are at the mercy of hospital administration. 4/?
i ~don’t~ know how withholding lifesaving medical care/medication in this context aligns with the hippocratic oath (u know, esp the first line) or how any of that is going to be reconciled. that one is confusing to me & i do not envy the ethical predicament they are in. 5/?
short-term, i’ve found a way to procure my rx thru an elaborate hoops and ladders outta state & outta pocket method (arrest me i literally don’t give a fuck), but it’s not sustainable long-term. none of this is sustainable long-term. 6/?

every employee at my med provider’s facility that i was passed around to on fri regurgitated the same rehearsed line: “we have been instructed to discontinue MTX in female patients of child-bearing age.” which ~implies~ that men still have access? but da fuck do i know.
