Personally, this is an issue I go back and forth on.
Do I think it's morally justifiable to kill child rapists? Yes.
Do I think the state should have the power to determine who is and is not deserving of the death penalty? Not really...
I'll see pro-death penalty stuff and be like "Yeah, you're right."
Then I'll see anti stuff and also be like "Yup, that's totally true."
I've been asked to make a video about the subject before, but haven't because honestly I'm a total milquetoast fence-sitter about it...
To those saying it's not the state that decides, it's a jury of peers:
Whether a crime is eligible for the death penalty, who gets charged, what judge is appointed & how the appeals process happens are all determined by the state.
Update on my dad's health since I know so many of you AMAZING folks are praying for him.
THREAD
Since I posted my video, we've had *several* people involved in the Montreal healthcare system offer to to try to move my dad's case along.
These people are so generous and their help means the world, but sadly we have still yet to receive any hospital appointments.
We have amazing people trying to help us, but I'm not sure if it's the specific doctor my dad has (he had terrible patient reviews BTW) or the hospital in general, but I don't want to wait anymore.
I don't want to look back in a few months and regret not having done more...
The tired idea that systemic racism is at the root of every altercation is sadly why I think so many people are keen to dismiss this case.
Instead of discussing the nuances and appropriate circumstances for citizen's interventions and arrests, people are discussing lynchings...
Do you see how that's not productive?
I think there's a GENUINE ISSUE over what happened that needs to be discussed. Did those men have the right to try to stop the man they thought was a thief? Does "probable cause" apply to citizen's arrests? Did they point their guns at him?
I'm not even saying which country's response has been better or most appropriate, but per capita is important when dealing with a country as big as the US and trying to compare it to somewhere like Canada, which has about 1/10 the population
Other people have also mentioned that fatalities are a better measure, since confirmed cases rely on testing, which has issues everywhere pretty much
For the past few months, I've experimented with the carnivore diet.
Why would I do something so extreme?
How did it make me feel?
Will I continue it?
And, as everyone seems to want to know, did it give me stomach issues??
Watch the video to find out:
To most people giving me tips and suggestions, thank you!
I'm touched by your concern, and will make sure to ask my doctor about testing for celiac & Lyme disease, lupus, and some other things that were mentioned as causes.
I will also update you all after my next blood test!
But to anyone saying "Why don't you just eat a balanced diet," please actually watch the video😂 I do explain what drove me to abandon my "balanced" diet.
Also, I've seen people asking why I didn't try a plant-based diet, but I actually have in the past, and felt 🗑️
