Over the past few days, many traditional media platforms like the Guardian, the BBC and the Independent have acknowledged the call for no cops at Pride.
While we welcome the decision to ban uniformed police marching, this is not enough and does not reflect the demands we have been making for years.
The cops both marched in and policed the parade, attempting to pink-wash the inherent brutality of the Met and making it unsafe for our community.
We are fighting for queer liberation and a world free of racist, sexist, homophobic and transphobic police violence.
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ NO COPS AT PRIDE, NO COPS AT ALL! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
Queer activists just held a die in and halted Pride in London for 23 minutes, one minute for every person who has died in police custody in England and Wales since the start of 2021.
WE DEMAND NO COPS AT PRIDE✊🏳️🌈
@PrideinLondon admitted yesterday that policing presence makes many members of our community feel unsafe by asking cops to not wear uniforms
However the cops are still here !!
🚫 THIS IS NOT ENOUGH 🚫
Many people in our community face police violence on a daily basis. The cops are institutionally racist, sexist, and transphobic – whether they be straight or gay, in rainbow t-shirts or in uniform.
We've been campaigning on this for years, as have many other incredible people and groups!! It's so so good to see the institutionally racist, sexist, and homophobic police held to account
But also it comes at a cost. It shouldn't have taken what it's taken to get here. We shouldn’t have had to draw on the deaths of young gay men or a gay man being deported during pride month to get Pride in London to listen to us.
