Andreas Christensen a 26yr-old underrated Center Back a priority for Xavi's Barcelona for the upcoming season, already set a foot away from Stamford Bridge as a free transfer to Barcelona

let's dive in to know how this genius would fit in the Barca style of play.

[A THREAD]👇
Andreas Bødtker Christensen (born 10 April 1996) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Prem League club Chelsea and the Denmark national team

And now in the Best club in the world FC Barcelona on a free transfer #barceolna
Christensen is a centre-back and is known for his calmness in possession and precise passing, as well as his aerial dominance.

In 2018, Chelsea Ex-manager Antonio Conte said the Dane had displayed "great maturity" adding that he has "a lot of faith in Christensen
Thomas Tuchel too always admired the player alot and did his best to keep him sending last-ditch messages to keep him at the club despite rumours that he has already signed the contract to join Barcelona at the end of the season

And added he fits in his stay of play #Barcelona
Players Profile

Image Via: @TotalAnalysis, Christensen’s overall stats this season. In terms of defensive stats, the Danish centre-back ranks highly in multiple metrics. His most notable stats are successful defensive actions, average interceptions per match, and average...
...recoveries. Christensen has also averaged upwards of five defensive duels per match and more than six interceptions per match.

Christensen has continued his impressive performances this season, securing 21 appearances across all competitions. #christensen #Barcelona
Style Of Play

Christensen is a little skinny with decent ability, coordination and pace (not too explosive or fast at short-mid distances) In front of skilful players with fast direction shifts/great acceleration skills at short distances, he may fight.
Christensen does split time at right-back and his playing style coupled with his high football IQ and composer on the ball and could function as a passing outlet in the Defensive Midfield position
Positioning

Christensen mainly utilizes the centre-back from the hit map below but offers positional fluidity and has fulfilled a more conventional right-back role when called upon, Chelsea is the most defensively tough when Christesen appears at the Right Center Back three...
...Silva and Rudiger as a defensive duo in the 3-4-3 formation of Tuchel's

He plays in a just wider position that requires a clear, close connection and ingredient of press resistance

One thing that's crazy is how he utilises the Midfield and runs almost everywhere as a DCB🤯
Defensive Ability

Christensen is widely recognized as a proactive rather than a reactive CB: pre-emptying and sequentially eradicating danger whilst defending on the front foot, as opposed to constantly having to make recovery runs and tackles to deny rivals from progressing
He averages 1.14 tackles per 90 placings him in the bottom 23rd percentile out of the other centre-backs in Europe.

He also averages 2.96 interceptions per 90 places him in the top 7th percentile in some parameters
His smart positioning and anticipation have another importance in XAVI Barca, as they are often called upon to prevent counter

Christensen has certainly done well under Tuchel as is proven by the fact that he is yet to watch an opponent score past his keeper while on the pitch
Ball Playing And Press Resistance Ability

Equally important for the modern-day defender is ball-playing and Press Resistance ability

Here is yet another one of Christensen's strengths on the defence side, which will be executed well in Xavi's possession-based system.
Passing Ability

Christensen's passing ability is elite and one great skill he poses, his ability to progressively build-up play from the back and dictate possession

Something that interests Xavi the most based on his style of play and how his Armies progress the ball...
...namely building the defence and drawing in opponents in manipulating their defensive structure

He averages 22.12 forward passes per 90 with an accuracy of 85.75 places his comfortable above the league average of 16.97 forward passes 90 with an accuracy of 75.48% #Christensen
Christensen as a wing-back in Chelsea is a main attacking threat due to how wide he stays; it is nearly close to impossible for any team to deny space for Chelsea when focused on their passing centrally

He is one of the best centre-backs in passing under Tuchel #Christensen
Besides good footwork, modern-day centre-backs need to be great passers of the ball, and this is another one of Christensen's attributes and we Culers will get to witness how it will be a huge and crucial one for XaviBarcelona
Scoring Ability

Christensen is pretty much not a goal-scoring freak or a dangerman in an opposition box, while that makes him the 742nd different goalscorer in club history, he has gone the longest before scoring his first senior competitive Chelsea goal #Christensen #Barca
Even those who were famous for the rarely scoring (Barder Mikel, Hinton, Pates, e.t.c) had all found the back of the net much, much sooner from the start

In a nutshell, that doesn't make him an overrated CB, since he prioritises focusing more on the Defensive side. #Barcelona

-Weaknesses

Tackling 👇
Fabregas said in quotes picked up by The Metro.

“He is fast, strong, great with the ball, agile, and positions himself well. When I first arrived at Chelsea, he was a youngster training with the first team, and I was already surprised. The only thing that I would tell... #Barca
...Chris to try and improve on is that he’s too much of a good guy sometimes. He has to be more of a bastard, you know.”

It’s a weakness that has plagued him since he first arrived at the academy, and it looks like a part of his game he will never really be able to eliminate
He’s still a great player, but he could enter that top tier if he just had a little more edge to him.
Conclusion

Christensen's ball playmaking, progressive skills, tactical knowledge, passing and defensive ability make him a perfect fit for Xavi's Barcelona who will be a perfect duo with Araujo and maybe kounde/Koulibally for the backside
