I’m on the road but wanted to get this thread out as the creep of fascism feels larger and closer. Another resource list, this time using @MsKellyMHayes’s self-reflection prompts on planning for disaster, including @prisonculture’s guiding questions for moments of injustice. 🧵
A wonderful complementary article is Deana Ayer’s blogpost “Balancing urgency and patience when the world is burning around us.” actbuildchange.com/blog/balancing…
@MsKellyMHayes starts by asking “What is the crisis?” For me at this moment, its the flood of recent SCOTUS decisions. I found this thread of summaries helpful.
Next, “assess threats” and “map out basic responses.” My friend shared Elliot Fukui’s “Surviving the Apocalypse Together” workbook with me and I think it’s a great tool for this step. Definitely go through it with friends and loved ones rather than alone. madqueer.org/madsurvival
From there, @MsKellyMHayes asks @prisonculture’s first question: “what resources exist so I can better educate myself?” When trying to look for resources, I try to find ones that are by and for impacted people that center lived experiences.
Second question: “Who’s already doing work around this injustice?” @prisonculture. In other words, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel! Folks are doing great work and creating opportunities to plug-in!
One example is this upcoming training to support abortion access.
Also, try starting locally: native-land.ca has a map to find whose Indigenous land you’re on. See if there are any #LandBack projects you can support where you live.
Third question: “Do I have capacity to offer concrete support and help them?” @prisonculture For this question, I turn to the amazing work of queer folks of color in the #DisabilityJustice and #TransformativeJustice movements.
Daria of Accountability Mapping offers a free “Self-Accountability Mini Journal” on his website. Donation link at the bottom of the site! accountabilitymapping.com/resources
Rebel Sydney Black offers this framework on “Pod Mapping for Mutual Aid.” pdxdisabilityjustice.org/pod-mapping.pdf Again, definitely recommend completing with a friend!
So that’s it. For now. I hope this helps! I’ll this thread with these inspiring words by @dreanyc123 of @interruptcrim from her commencement address to Scripps College Class of 2022:
“The tools of abolition are in our hands, and everywhere across the country and around the world, people are fighting for and practicing other ways of being. In the words of playwright Lorraine Hansberry – we can impose beauty on our future.” -@dreanyc123scrippscollege.edu/commencement/s…

As a transracial/intercountry adopted person, I’ve been trying to navigate how I relate to the SCOTUS leak and the #domesticinfantsupply language. Reading a variety of responses has helped, including this convo interview btwn @MsKellyMHayes and @DorothyERoberts, plus more below.
