NEW from @gridnews: A dizzying number of January 6 figures are tied to a network of MAGA groups -- that all appear to operate from the same Capitol Hill townhouse.
@gridnews The groups have raised millions, much of which goes to produce right-wing propaganda around stolen election claims -- and to push back against the J6 committee and DOJ investigations. grid.news/story/politics…
CPI is largely unknown, but their name pops up in weird places. 6 days before Jan 6, MTG texted Mark Meadows: “We have to get organized for the 6th. I would like to meet with Rudy Giuliani again," she wrote. "I’ll be over at CPI this afternoon." grid.news/story/politics…
It's kind of amazing what is connected to CPI. Remember @JaneMayerNYer 's piece on "the Slime Machine Targeting Dozens of Biden Nominees"? That group, AAF, is a CPI group. newyorker.com/news/a-reporte…
Recall recent coverage about Cleta Mitchell's Election Integrity Network, going around the US training partisan workers? Also part of CPI's network. nytimes.com/2022/05/30/us/…
Also listed at CPI's address are the Senate Conservatives Fund, Senate Conservatives Action, and the House Freedom Fund, which have raised nearly $40 million over the past 2 cycles, much of which supports members who voted against election certification.
Some good July 4th news: Despite increasing hate crimes and rising intolerant speech, Americans generally are becoming more tolerant and inclusive in their definition of “American”: grid.news/story/politics…
In 2020, a lower percentage of U.S. adults agreed that select traits, like speaking English or being Christian, are very or somewhat important to being “truly American.”
A lot of the change is driven by younger Americans, whose views are strikingly more accepting than those of their parents — or grandparents.
UPDATE: A California-based journalist says the Bangladeshi firm behind the Ottawa convoy Facebook groups told him they were paid the equivalent of $23 a day to promote Facebook pages, and indicated they had been working with contacts in Canada. grid.news/story/misinfor…
It's okay if that tweet doesn't make sense to you--the story explains it all. I promise.
Legal twitter, help: why did police need a warrant to search the apartment, since it was already a crime scene? And why would they release info on the search of the victim's apt but not from the search of the shooter's home?
And why would they release any info gained via warrant in the middle of the investigation? Isn't it "law enforcement sensitive"?
And while I understand the TX Rangers have taken over the case, what about Dallas PD internal affairs? What's the protocol for internal oversight in the case of an officer firing her weapon?
