We’ve been trying to get an important story into the press for a week, and it keeps being delayed because of these politicians and everything they are. Everything they’ve done. Their actions are the reason the article exists in the first place. NHS patients and their staff…
…are working in unsustainable conditions. The system is collapsing. The Conservative Party are accelerating privatisation, starving the service of resource and not caring about the consequences.
The consequences are deaths. The consequences are staff suicides. The…
…consequences are desperately unwell patients lying on the floor at home overnight. The consequences are extremely sick mental health patients waiting in an A and E for 10 days waiting for a bed. The consequences are staff leaving in droves; driven out by the maddening stress…
…and personal toll of shouldering the responsibility of failings from this government for years and years. Watching your patients suffer. Telling your patient that this isn’t available, that isn’t available, their relative is 5 hours’ drive away. The car park’s sold off…
…so pay £10 at the meter. Their relative’s 5 hours away because the mental health beds were cut and that’s the nearest (private) hospital the NHS is paying to care for patients. Their operation’s been postponed again. And again. And again.
And it’s not the fault of staff…
…(despite what the Daily Mail would have you believe). And it’s not the fault of ‘lazy’ patients or ‘greedy’ patients or ‘entitled’ patients.
It’s the fault of this government, who have failed to take care of the NHS, failed to take responsibility, prioritised money over…
…the public’s very health, their very lives.
And now the NHS is in absolute crisis. Absolute crisis. It is horrifying.
And yet where’s the horror? I don’t see anything in the papers. Do you?
I’ve had enough. I have absolutely had it. I’m not sitting around while MPs preen..
…and posture and pivot and power grab.
I demand that this government, this new Health Secretary, the current Health Secretary sorts it out. And if he doesn’t stay in post long, I’ll petition whomever comes after him. And whomever comes after them.
This is not good though…
…we are lucky to have some of the best healthcare workers in the world. We had a service we were proud of.
I’m disgusted with what they’ve done to our NHS. I’m horrified and terrified. If you are too, please sign here. It takes 30 seconds to speak up: bit.ly/StepUpSteve

I don’t often do this, but I’m very worried. Very very worried about patients.
This government have taken over the news cycle for months and months, to the point that actual news isn’t being reported. Thousands of patients are in danger. Acute danger. They are in danger…
…because in many places the NHS cannot care for them safely, because this government has weakened the health service, staff are on their knees, and cannot do more than they are doing.
Patients matter. Every single patient. Patients are being failed. We cannot tolerate this…
…we must speak up.
I know you’re exhausted. I know you’re fed up. I know you think it doesn’t make a difference. But if hundreds of thousands of us speak up, it does change things.
We cannot go silent. We cannot allow patients to suffer. We must demand better. You deserve…
I have the flu right now, but I’ve worked each day in between sleeping, whenever I’ve had enough energy. Why? Because our work involves standing up for NHS doctors and patients and it never stops. My inbox never stops filling up with doctors in difficulty asking for help…
…and the government never stops weakening the service and blaming the staff. And the media never stops scapegoating the staff. And all too frequently I’m sent messages from our doctors about colleagues who have committed suicide. Who felt abandoned. Who were abandoned. Who…
…felt they weren’t doing enough for their patients. Who felt hopeless.
The politicians treat the NHS like it’s a game, a business, a gamble, a cash cow.
It’s none of those things. It’s a network of people barely holding on by a thread, holding up the country’s health…
I’ve been wondering whether to post this for a while, because I knew that it would increase the trolling in the short term. But I’ve decided to do it.
Since I’ve started @EveryDoctorUK, the organisation and myself have been subjected to smear campaigns and bullying from many…
…high profile individuals, including some within the medical profession. A tiny number of influential people have successfully sabotaged newspaper articles containing important petitions, sabotaged collaborations by meeting with potential collaborators and smearing our name…
…by spreading misinformation about us. By setting up fake social media accounts to spread rumours and obtain information. By setting up abusive parody accounts (look up ‘EveryDogtor’ on Facebook for example). By accusing me of severe mental health problems publicly, on our …
🧵The billionaires, and the political donors, and the politicians who don’t speak the truth, and certain powerful media outlets are changing so much about our society. They’re pushing their agenda.
And one of the things they’re changing, for the worse, is the NHS🚨…
…We need the public to know what is being done to their NHS. What is being done to the publicly-funded Public Health Service which was set up to care for everyone in their hour of need. It is being weakened, dismantled, and sold off in chunks. As it is paid for by taxes, it …
…represents an extremely attractive investment to private companies who can come in and treat it like a steady cash cow.
When this happens, the service itself has a weakened infrastructure due to short term contracts+destruction of long term caring relationships between staff..
There is a lot of horrible stuff going on right now. And it’s completely understandable that people are overwhelmed, or even switching off.
There are a small number of high profile campaigners in the UK. The funding is…
…limited, and mostly reserved for ‘non-political’ causes. When we speak up and build a profile, campaigners are usually picked off, smeared by the right-wing press, trolled relentlessly, threatened and abused every day. The media do not cover the issues we are fighting for…
…and the Conservatives have a massive majority in Parliament right now. They ignore the opposition, they ignore their constituents. They lie and deny things and mislead people and gaslight campaigners and public sector workers and others…
🧵 A huge thank you to everyone who has explored our new @EveryDoctorUK map so far, signed up, sent us info, suggestions and thoughts💙
This is the very first map of its kind, and it’s a living document. It’ll become stronger as we go + the more feedback we receive, the better..
…a resource it will become.
The map isn’t exhaustive; it’ll grow as the project builds, and we’ve missed a few things. Thank you so much to those who have emailed with suggestions for new pins/ corrections. The team is making tweaks as we hear from you…
…also thank you to those who are asking questions. Your questions allow us to reflect on the way we’re explaining this data. It is so helpful to us. We have slightly tweaked the wording on the map homepage now: bit.ly/NHS-privatisat……
