There is no deep meaning behind this. No massive government secret or deep state conspiracy. No hidden treasure trove of historical military tradition.
None of that.
Sorry to disappoint you.

It’s the result of the pagination process for printed publications, ensuring that new chapters or appendices begin on the right side of an open printed manual.
Totally for aesthetics!
3/
If content for a previous chapter ends on a page that doesn’t mirror the next chapter’s beginning page, and it leaves a blank between them…
4/
… we put the phrase “this page intentionally left blank” on that in-between-er.
5/
This is meant to prevent confusion over whether or not the printing agency simply left out some content during the printing process or if the page was, in fact, intentionally blank because the chapter is done.
6/
Like I said… no big mystery.
Cheers and Happy Fancy Pants Friday, Doctrinistas!

For a book that is only about 80 pages of content, once you factor for the “This page intentionally left blank” stuff, this book speaks right to the thing that builds trust between soldiers and leaders: knowing someone is going to care for you at the moment you need it most. 2/
Regardless of what rank or position you are, you need to be familiar with all evacuation doctrine, but this is one those books that all soldiers should review periodically, especially prior to major training events.
Let’s set the stage to honestly talk about one of the most critical books for any Soldier to read, ATP 4-25.12, Unit Field Sanitation Teams.
Show of hands, Doctrinistas. Who has pooped in a bag next to a military vehicle somewhere in the Californian desert?
1/
Field sanitation IS field craft. It’s not just about pooping in a bag.
This is a leadership book, and I’m going to make a case for why every soldier should get as familiar with this book as they do any other branch specific technique publication in their doctrinal kit bag. 2/
Everyone poops.
