BREAKING: THREAD: late night DoJ 🔥🔥🔥SCORCHER🔥🔥🔥 just filed in the Bannon case. The filing is a motion to prevent Bannon from submitting his new “cooperation” offer to the committee as evidence in his contempt trial. FIRST: DoJ says too little too late. 1/

To little because he hasn’t agreed to submit documents per the subpoena he defied, and too late because “the criminal contempt statute is not intended to procure compliance: it is intended to punish past noncompliance.” YESSSSS 2/

Also, DoJ says Bannon’s timing suggests “the only thing that has really changed since he refused to comply with the subpoena in October 2021 is that he is finally about to face the consequences of his decision to default.” Then DoJ gets into the FBI interview with COSTELLO 3/

Including that Costello LIED to the committee. “that the Defendant's attorney misrepresented to the Committee what the former
President's counsel had told the Defendant's attorney” among other things. This tells me COSTELLO could be in trouble as I suspected. 4/

And finally the DoJ points out that Bannon’s attorney works for TRUMP and is being paid for by Trump’s PAC as reported recently by the Times. 5/

And here’s the sign off. I’m sorry, but Matt Graves is a bad ass and were lucky to have him as the US Attorney in DC. To sum up: DoJ says no, your last minute deal won’t save you, no you can’t delay your trial, and your lawyer is a piece of shit, too. 6/

PS: justin Clark is the trump attorney mentioned above that DoJ interviewed about this case on June 29. He’s the one that told the FBI that Donald. Ever invoked privilege and that he told Bannon’s lawyer as much. 👀

JUST IN: judge strikes down all of Bannon’s bullshit motions AND he cannot DELAY his trial. He can’t subpoena Pelosi. He can’t argue trump’s non-existent privilege. Bannon is fucked. Trial starts July 18.
