How to make $1,000,000 per year from a blog.

Even if you suck at writing and are a college drop out (I’m guilty of both).

//thread 🧵
In 2017 it finally happened.

I made over $1,000,000 dollars from my blog.

Yes, the -same- blog I registered the domain for $12.99.

It took me 9 years to get there.

But here are all the lessons you need to get there MUCH faster:
Let’s get this out of the way…

I HATE writing.

I’m not very good at it.

Even my English teacher in high school told me “Jeff, you’re writing isn’t that great.”

I wasn’t mad at her because she was right.
But I trudged my way one new blog post after another.

Then in a few years is when the magic happened...

->In 2014, I broke 6 figures for the first time.
->In 2015, I made $248,000.
->In 2016, I broke $731,000.
->In 2017, I hit $1,300,000.

But that is lesson #1:
1. Be Persistent and Patient

Blogging will not make you rich overnight.

You can start an online business and generate revenue quickly.

But blogging is like starting a garden - it takes time to yield fruit.

And after time, the garden is ripe for the picking!
2. Focus on Serving Others (not Profits)

Blogging is the ultimate lesson in Business 101:

- You learn new high-income skills
- You position yourself as an authority
- You open doors to countless opportunities
- You help 1000's of people

The money you make is just a bonus.
3. Blogging has Exponential Growth Potential

Yes, it takes time to start.

But the growth potential is limitless because it's easier to scale than a brick-and-mortar business.

You can read about my journey here:

And there's another advantage too...
4. Startup Costs are Dirt Cheap

I registered GoodFinancialCents.com for $12.99.

Purchased a hosting plan for $89/yr.

Then paid $49 for a premium WordPress theme.

Largest expense in the 1st year was paying a designer $250 for a custom website header (which I didn’t need).
No other business allows you to start as cheap as #blogging.

All you need is a computer and something to write about!

It's free and shows you the intro steps to get going:
5. Focus on The Right Goals

There are two numbers that matter in blogging:

~Your traffic
~Your revenue

You need to keep those in balance.

For example, Pinterest might get you a lot of traffic but is it the right traffic?

Does it increase revenue?
6. Get out of the Sandbox

It’s easy to “stay in your lane” and focus just on the blog.

But if you want to reach others, you have to learn how to play out of the sandbox.

This is why I love blogging because it requires networking - a crucial business skill.
Getting out of the blogging sandbox includes:

-Social media
-Facebook groups
-YouTube
-Podcasting
-Conferences
-Discords
-1 on 1 calls

Each of these was crucial for my blog’s growth through the years.
7. Don’t Forget About Emails

Marketers often tout “The money is in the (email) list”.

I didn’t get it at first. I already had traffic, why did I need to collect emails?

In 2011 my site was hit by a Google Algo update and my traffic plummeted 70% overnight.
That’s when I finally understood the value of email subscribers.

Start collecting email subs from Day 1.

Even if you don’t have anything to send; just do it.
8. Consistently Increase Value

I update my blog all the time.

I also record podcasts and videos weekly.

My favorite piece of content is answering reader questions.

Serving others and continually finding ways to help is my own form of self-care.
Btw, if you have a question for me go here: goodfinancialcents.com/ask

Happy to answer any question you have for me! 😀
9. Never Stop Growing or Learning

People often criticize me for doing everything myself

But the reason I do it is that I want to learn how EVERYTHING works firsthand.

Instead of hiring it out, I do it myself - and that helps me teach other people.

Do it yourself first.
Bottom line: Blogging is a powerful business model.

But it does take time.

Don't start it if you need money quickly, but if you're willing to work at it for a few years then you can make life-changing money within a couple of years.

Tired of feeling stuck?

Here are 21 powerful ways to sharpen your FOCUS...

//thread 🧵
It comes down to the phrases you're saying throughout the day:

"I can't." 🫢

"I don't know how." 🤷🏽‍♂️

"This is too hard." 😖

These 3 phrases are poison to your productivity and growth.
They kill your motivation AND train your brain to think that you're NOT capable.

That you can't handle tough challenges.

Don't accept this. 👎🏼

If you want to become a millionaire, here are 5 money HACKS you need to know ASAP....

//thread
These are money hacks I had to "figure out" the hard way.

The good news is you get to learn them today.

Let's begin...
1. Power of Compounding Interest

There's a reason the smartest man ever known said this about it:

“Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world.

He who understands it, earns it; he who doesn't, pays it”

How it ended: Me laying my hand on a man I had only met 24 hours prior praying over him in front of Biscuit Love (Franklin, TN) at 9:45am.
How it started: A cold email I received from a complete stranger wanting to "pick my brain" about business stuff and offering to pay me and fly into Nashville for a half-day.
The in-between: First, let me say I despise the phrase "pick your brain".

What usually follows is someone asking me for free consulting and them not taking action on any of it.

If you want to make an extra $100 online, here are 25 ways you can start today:

//thread Image
Though I started as a financial planner the majority of my income comes from online sources.

No, I didn’t set out to be an "Internet entrepreneur", but that’s exactly what I am today.

But eventually found it to be more lucrative than anything I ever expected.
You don’t need to start them all at once, either.

You can get one up and running, then add a second, a third, and as many as you can build into your schedule and lifestyle.

With that in mind, let’s get into the 25 strategies…

Does making more money equal more happiness?

I used to think so.

Until I learned the truth (the hard way).

Here are 11 things MORE important than money:

//thread
4 years ago I was on track to have a record month: just shy of $500k.

90 days later I had my worst month in 3 years.

I was devastated.

Everything I did afterward was chase my previous monthly high.

But the harder I worked the more frustrated I became...
I had let money become the most important thing in my life:

-It drove all of my choices & decisions.
-It drove how I interacted w/ family and friends.
-I was desperate and unhappy.

I was in a prison made of money – and I knew I had to escape it.
