I have seen a lot of takes on #Airlift , some people appreciating the blitz scaling and some just being politically correct to others calling them an outright scam and fudging numbers etc. Here is my take on the whole saga 🧵

Blitz scaling is great and the flywheel oh the flywheel is amazing, it’s actually better then amazing. The concept comes from Nazi Germany’s lightning strike on a lot of European countries and capturing them “blitzkrieg”. Do read up on history, they were prepping for it for

For a very long time. They had been building up armour units, training infantry and building roads and manufacturing capacity. The blitzkrieg failed when the logistics failed the Germans in the now famous siege of Stalingrad. They ran short on fuel and ability to replace lost

Mechanised units.

So lesson one of #blitzscaling is to “nail it before you scale it”. The idea of just throwing lots of money and warm bodies will help you achieve a flywheel is fundamentally wrong.

Secondly timing is everything, you need boundless optimism and a seemingly never ending bull run for investors to write endless checks without due consideration of unit economics and a path to profitability.

Airlift may have gotten another lease of life had the

markets not crashed globally.

For the next couple of years these concepts of unit economics, path to profitability and ability to nail it before you scale it will be key in ability to raise funds and will support mature founders a lot who can display an understanding.

On a happier note, airlift fought a good fight and you can agree or disagree with their approach but they did put us on the map.
