BREAKING: All Public Members Resign from @ValleyAir's Workgroup due to their lack of accountability for systemic failures in their air pollution "credit" banking scheme that has favored #BigOil at the cost of public health, esp EJ hoods.
CVAQ Director @catherinegw called the workgroup “another disappointing failure by @ValleyAir that exposes their bias toward polluters. CVAQ will continue to pursue reconciliation and justice, but I can no longer give cover to this performative process.”
Jesus Alonso, Clean Water Action pointed to "an unwillingness to compensate disadvantaged communities...this broken system allows credits for emission reductions that don't actually happen and, it robs communities of the opportunity to increase direct emission reductions.”
@sasan_saadat stated "There is simply no room for additional pollution in the San Joaquin Valley, yet the Air District allowed industrial polluters to expand operations using credits that were wildly inflated or even non-existent.” Read the full resignation letter on our website.

@ValleyAir has shown lack of accountability for the harm to public health caused by its Emission Reduction Credits (ERCs) program. Here is a thread of recent media coverage of our coalition members’ resignation from @ValleyAir's ERCs public advisory workgroup (PAW):
“The Air District’s refusal to address and quantify the inconsistencies and discrepancies..is evidence of an unwillingness to collaborate and an unwillingness to compensate our disadvantaged communities for the mismanaged credits.” fresnobee.com/fresnoland/art…
“The resignations by CVAQ Director @catherinegw, Jesus Alonso and @sasan_saadat represent a significant escalation in the fight for clean air in the San Joaquin Valley, which is among the most polluted regions in the country for ozone and fine particles..” capitalandmain.com/clean-air-reps…
