Just a reminder when the media, pundits, and politicians spend all their time advising Democrats to “stop pandering to their extremes,” they’re literally talking about abandoning people of color, women, and gay/trans people

You can dress it up however, but that’s the whole thing
And, for the record, none of what they’re warning against is unpopular. It’s just literally moderates and conservatives covering up years of failures, bad policies, and ceaseless inequality and trying to protect their wealth and power.
“The Left” has been tirelessly undermined and ostracized from political power. This ridiculous push at this moment is about ceding ground to authoritarianism, which is how this cycle always works. They cede ground until they join them.
The truth is that these “extremes,” including advocating for equality, reproductive freedoms, and simply standing up for oppressed groups, are wildly popular. It just happens that the conversation is set by moderates who don’t want to lose their power.
Biden and the Democrats aren’t pandering to the Left. They’ve criticized them, opposed their agendas, and continually push to the center. Moderates and conservatives are simply creating narratives to launder their own failures and gain even more control over the party.
Never forget for a moment that all these “Never Trump” Republicans who laid the groundwork for him got kicked out of their party and are trying to more or less takeover the Democrats and shift the Overton Window. Them and moderates make a hell of a team.

That feeling that you're alone and powerless to stop this current slide into authoritarianism isn't an accident.

It's an intentional state the powerful use to stave off reform. We need to talk about that history and what we must to do going forward.

One of the things I feared after Roe fell was that the political environment would largely adapt to it and prepare us to live in a post-Roe world.

Unfortunately, we're already seeing that happen. We can't just expect people to save us. We have to save ourselves.

2/ Image
It's time to start noticing that, in this present environment, we're expected to turn to corporations to save us. To ask them to weigh in on politics or intervene.

This isn't an accident. We live in an ultra-consumer society where mass politics have been destroyed.

Just a reminder that despite all this handwringing by moderates over people protesting Kavanaugh, he ate his expensive dinner in complete peace and has round-the-clock security.

This is about normalizing oppression by using cultural norms and pressures as weapons. Period.
What we’ve been watching for years now is a constant pressure on people using their constitutional right to protest to quiet down, accept rule from above, and live with the oppression. That’s only going to get worse and the sooner we stop worrying about it the better.
People have every right to protest a stolen Supreme Court hellbent on taking their rights away. And watching the media and political class pretend the protest is more disturbing than the oppression tells you everything you need to know. They’re not worried about regular people.

With constant mass shootings and declining trust in institutions, authoritarians are gaining power by spreading conspiracy theories and promising to deliver order from chaos.

We have to look at how this is the same playbook fascists always turn to.

We're all very tired and frustrated and angry.

This state of decline in America is so miserable. These situations breed a Right Wing reactionary energy that leads to oppression, violence, authoritarianism, and often genocide.

We have to understand the road we're on.

2/
It's no surprise that Tucker Carlson and his fellow authoritarians are blaming the shootings and chaos on "an attack on men and Western Civilization."

This is a tried and true strategy that has worked many times over. We must study it or else fall victim to it again.

Man alive. It took literally no time for the Right and moderates to take the fallout from the overturn of Roe and divide any sort of mass response.

Everything says we’re being prepared to live within a new reactionary era.
It needs said. The wealthy and powerful have no real concern for our rights or wellbeing. Everything is focused on furthering that wealth and power.

Authoritarianism is a seductive option for them and the environment they thrive within.
The only option we have at this point is a massive grassroots movement that pressures the environment. That’s it. Period. And these attempts to fracture solidarity and pit segments against one another are absolutely ruinous to that possibility.

All right.

We need to talk about the Supreme Court's EPA ruling, the actual history of the founding of America, the wealthy who have spent fortunes undermining science and attacking democracy, and why we're in the middle of an authoritarian crisis.

The Court's ruling isn't unexpected, but it's an absolute disaster for all of us.

It is yet another attempt by the powerful to further protect their wealth at the detriment of all of us.

We need to talk about why this happened and understand what's going on.

Climate change is an apocalyptic threat that will affect all of us and have almost unfathomable consequences.

The only way to stop it is for states to address the problem, but states are so tied to private wealth and power that that isn't even a possibility right now.

Capitalism will not allow the climate crisis to be addressed, it will only profit off its destruction.

This Supreme Court is there to ensure that nothing can impede the consolidation of power and profit.

That's it.

That's what we're dealing with.
It isn't just a rogue Supreme Court.

It's a literal societal crisis and the question is whether this creaking, collapsing, authoritarian system will continue to use violence and its power to the very bitter and tragic end or if we can figure out something better.
This EPA ruling is a massive thing.

It makes abundantly clear that, faced with an apocalyptic threat, the forces of capital and entrenched power will not hesitate to use everything at their disposal to continue the game to the very bitter end.

The terms are set.
