We're bringing @zmanian to NYC Sept 21-23 to talk DeFi, crypto trading and user experience.
Now here's his Best Of 🧵
@zmanian 2/ Zaki is probably best known as the lead developer of Cosmos, but last year, he announced Sommelier (@sommfinance), a crypto network aimed at improving the trading experience on DEXes.
@zmanian@sommfinance 4/ This talk of Zaki's from the 2019 @MITBitcoinClub Expo on 'Defining an MVP for the Next Generation Blockchain.' He discusses building a new blockchain company and creating a series of public goods for the industry.
@zmanian@sommfinance@MITBitcoinClub 5/ He also recently spoke during @coindesk's Consensus 2022 conference during the Cosmos Foundations session (Zaki's talk starts around 1:10:30)
1/ Over its 21-month life span, @avalancheavax has seen massive growth in a hyper-competitive crypto space.
Let's take a deeper look at the @avalancheavax ecosystem in this overview thread.
2/ @avalancheavax has a two-pronged strategy for optimizing performance:
+Novel consensus mechanisms that offer high throughput and speed with low fees.
+Horizontal scaling that allows projects to deploy their own subnetworks (subnets).
3/ The Primary Network, is composed of the C, P, and X chains.
The vast majority of Avalanche applications are deployed on the Contract Chain (C-Chain).
However, while @avalancheavax's consensus brings speed and low fees, it doesn’t provide a long-term solution for scalability.
1/ The VPN market has grown exponentially w/ heavy user interest due to possible cyber threats.
Regardless of the advertised privacy and security, users are still required to trust in the centralized third parties behind VPNs.
Let's explore the alternative, Decentralized VPNs.
2/ dVPNs are pretty similar to VPNs, but they do have a few differences:
+Incentivization — node operators earn token rewards for bandwidth
+Pay structures — one-time (Hardware) vs pay-as-you-go (Software)
+Multi-routing — node switching / use different routes and servers
3/ There are numerous dVPN projects all at different stages in the development process with different network architectures, services, features, and reward mechanisms.
However, the biggest differentiator between dVPNs is the type: hardware or software.
