THREAD: let’s talk about this weak-sauce BS response from the @SecretService. “In January 2021, before any inspection was opened by OIG on this subject, USSS began resetting its mobile phones to factory settings as part of a pre-planned, three-month systems migration” 1/
First, it’s SUPER sketch that they bring up the OIG probe that began February 26, but don’t address that TWO congressional committees asked them for all relevant 1/6 documents on JANUARY 16. 2/
Why did you continue “resetting phones” after you received this letter, and why on earth would ANY agency continue with a planned January “systems migration” right after the attack on the capitol - ESPECIALLY the USSS? 3/
Finally, I worked for the feds for over a decade and we never returned our phones to factory settings UNLESS we lost our password and couldn’t get in, and in those cases, an IT administrator had to do it, and all our texts and emails were restored from the cloud. 4/
There was no “systems migration” that wiped all our data because our agency had a records retention policy by default - even when there wasn’t an insurrection or letters from congressional committees - we still had to retain all communications. 5/
In order to permanently delete communications, an IT administrator would have to wipe the cloud. In fact, I’ve gone back after leaving service to get emails and texts through FOIA successfully. Seems like you’d have to go WELL out of your way to remove communications 6/
I look forward to your response to the 1/6 committee, along with the reasons you failed to follow document retention policy in general under title 44 USC 3101, and why you ignored the 1/16 congressional request and continued with your “systems migration” 7/
Along with what “systems” you were migrating and how that permanently deleted communications. Not to mention why a factory reset was necessary, and how resetting a device magically erased comms on the cloud. Maybe you have a special reason. Thanks! END/
PS: If they did somehow "accidentally" lose all the comms, they'd have found that out on the first couple of phone migrations and stopped. Their excuse is just unreasonably stupid.

THREAD: Meadows. Recently, the DoJ told the court that it wasn't an OLC memo that prevented them from indicting Meadows for contempt of congress. That leaves prosecutorial discretion, and allows them to indict him for other stuff INCLUDING contempt. 1/ documentcloud.org/documents/2208…
That's a big deal because lots of folks were saying the DoJ "let Meadows walk" over an OLC memo. We know now that's not the case, and absolute immunity doesn't exist for former presidents and their top staff. So why did they decline to indict Meadows for contempt? 2/
Well, let's recall what happened with Navarro. The DoJ subpoenaed him for his communications with trump. He came in and they offered him a deal, which he rejected. So they indicted him the next day for contempt. 3/ cnn.com/2022/07/15/pol…

Whenever a fed agency gets defensive instead of being forthcoming, that's when my hackles go up. I remember being in an exec meeting at the VA asking the director if a certain scheduling action didn't amount to a "wait list" and I was told NEVER to say the words "wait list" again
See, the management was telling the schedulers to make the "desired date" of a veterans appointment the same as the date of the appointment, effectively making it look like the patient wasn't waiting at all for their appointment.
I argued that the "desired date" should be TODAY so we could accurately track how long it was taking for veterans to be seen, and zeroing that out by making the desired date the day of the appointment was effectively a digital wait list.

There were PHYSICAL FIGHT challenges in the 12/18 meeting. POWELL testified that she sought to see the president without an appointment, and they had about 15 minutes alone with donald. "I bet cipollone set a land speed record." 1/
CIPOLLONE: i walked in. i saw flynn and powell. I was not happy to see them there. The Overstock person was there. I looked at him and asked "who are you". I don't think any of these people were providing the president with good advice. 2/
Cipollone didn't understand how they had gotten in. POWELL says trump was very interested in what she was saying for those 15 minutes. HERSCHMANN testified that FLYNN took out a diagram that supposedly showed who was communicating with voting machines... 3/

Wasn’t there a JUST a story that DOJ HAS been discussing the implications of indicting Donald? And now a story that they don’t talk about him? Which is it? WAIT! Is the media playing both sides? Follow the facts and make your own call. I’m sick of the sideshow. 1/
Source: Ken Dilanian. Who has me blocked ever since he mistakenly declared the Mueller report exonerated Donald. He says DoJ talks about Donald all the time AND he says there’s no evidence Donald is a target of any investigation which is also incorrect. 2/ nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna3…
There IS evidence Donald is a target including the fact that we’ve seen more than one federal grand jury subpoena seeking info about him and one that names him SPECIFICALLY asking Navarro for all communication with Donald. 3/

Let's run a hypothetical. Let's say the DoJ indicts donald TODAY as many are calling for. Let's say he's indicted for 1512(c)2: obstructing an official proceeding. And let's say that the DoJ's star witness for this trial it Pat Cipollone. 1/
Let's say the DoJ has grand jury testimony from Cipollone that he heard donald tell meadows that he knew he lost & was going to send the mob to the capitol to delay or impede the electoral count of Biden's victory. Let's say their WHOLE case hinged on this important testimony 2/
Then let's say in August, the DoJ gets the Cipollone transcripts and video from the 1/6 committee, and they find out that Cipollone told the committee that he heard donald tell SCAVINO that he knew he lost and was going to send the mob to impede the count. 3/
