Because if something is a conspiracy theory then it is by definition, false, impossible, ridiculous etc.
It seems that using the term conspiracy was a psyop of the CIA.

To defend a certain pre-described narrative all counter arguments are being wiped off the table by calling it conspiracy theories.

I've I always compared it to a murder investigation.
You explore all scenarios and there is no such thing as a scenario that isn't possible just because someone gives it a certain name.

Thus they don't have to do any research, can continue to discuss with friends, family, relatives, colleague's, neighbours who have the same view. They don't have to defend themselves, can stay on the "good side". It could be some sort of self defence mechanism? 9/
