You can get re-infected, over and over. And each infection carries new risks.
Vaccines work, but are not enough on their own.
Good-fitting N95 masks make a difference - especially when everyone is wearing one.
These are facts.
For two years, we've needed a strong public awareness campaign to share the reality and to counter the misinformation.
At this point, it's clear that the provincial governments responsible for public health are not going to deliver one.
So we will.
Our volunteers will work with medical professionals to curate credible, up-to-date information about the ongoing pandemic. We will create compelling content & raise awareness around the current realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, & effective mitigations for the latest variants.
In addition, we will advocate for the kinds of long-term solutions that can give us a real escape path - ventilation regulations, more support for next-gen vaccine development, free and universal high-quality masks, and more.
Finally, we are supporting other COVID-realist and grassroots measures such as the @DonateMask project, rapid test reporting, and safety measures like DIY HEPA filters.
Individual action will never be enough to end the pandemic. Our provincial governments may have abandoned collective action.
But we won't.
A pandemic is a team sport. And it's time we play offense for a change.
A few have noted we should have used N95s instead of blue masks - we agree! We wanted to, but stock footage sites rarely offer N95 shots. Another gap to fill, & we will be shooting our own footage soon to add to the library.
But yes, wear a fitted N95 plz!
