After two years since JGY’s death, there is one thought that keeps WXX awake at night.

The more he think about it the more the idea gains more roots in his head, and it is not like LLJ known for its loyalty.

He can not help but think about Jin Ling, dealing with such a mess is already a feat in itself, and from what he hears from the juniors it is taking its toll on the still so-young sect leader.

He knows Jiang Cheng will never leave his side, but there is only so much you can fix with Zedian sparks and sharp words, so how they can deal with a threat like NHS, the man played them all like chess in the end.

Plus he knows his stubborn brother, who will probably snap at him for pointing the holes in his plan.

So with that in mind, he decided that at least he should share the thought with Jin Ling, the kid will need someone to help with this.

he arrived alone , telling no one about his destination or purpose, this is a sensitive topic that JL probably won't be amenable to discussing in front of an audience

And that is how he finds himself now in JL's office waiting for him to arrive, The SIC bowed stating that SLJ is in a discussion meeting with his advisers and will be arriving soon then left.

WXX busied himself with the snacks and tea provided, till he heard the opening of the door, turning cheerily to find JL at the door..

the younger raised an expecting eyebrow at him waiting..

WXX had to roll his eyes at that, stood up, and bowed “greeting Jin zongzhu” It had ‘enough’ respect for JL to reciprocate the gesture.

This also was a thing between them, no matter how much he tried to get familiar with the younger, in the end, he will be reminded of their status difference,

WXX is leaning more to think that it is another thing JL got from his jiujiu then it be from the peacock.

“How can I help you Wei-xiansheng”
Before WXX go into another long dialogue about the distance addressing JL pin him with a glare

The older just sighed, throw the playful play, and started to explain everything to JL, starting from his suspensions to every proof of his idea and a way to spot the traitor and how he can help.

By the minute JL's face started to lose expression, blank by the end of the long explanation.

They sat in a long silence, taping at his desk JL's eyes never leaving the other, it was a little unsettling, especially for a young aged one,

WXX has an inkling that this hit much deeper into the younger one, it was not an easy topic to start with, a nest of snakes and JL is barely of age to deal with it.

JL sighed at the end
“Jie, if you please”

A spider appeared at the door, Locked it with a talisman, and put another to cast a silence spell.

JL regarded the other for another second, “my Jiujiu was right”

WXX frowned thinking ‘good that JC is thinking the same as him-’

“You are too smart for your own good”

And indeed it only took seconds for it to dawn on him, and it appears that did a show on his face because JL gave him a too-sharp smile,

and that one indeed was inherent from his other dead uncle “you just never learned when to stop running your mouth”

That was not a question, thinking about it now it makes perfect sense, the one that can get anywhere in this palace without getting questioned and equally unnoticed for being a spoiled brat.

and now that has an eerie similarity with a certain Nie.

WXX knows that his brother would never allow JL to be in the middle of such a dangerous game.

JL ran a hand through his hair “yeah, him being there at the temple was not part of the plan”

This time he could not exactly pinpoint the reason why, but he can guess “JGY was plotting against JC and YMJ..”

Now it started to make sense, “he wanted to secure his position and you were already getting close of age, the Jin elders would overthrow him in a heartbeat, so he had to get rid of you, which technically is relatively easy to do so if not for-”

“So he wanted to get rid of JC first” WXX noded to himself, because everyone and their ancestors knows if a hair on JL was touched, JC will bring hell, political-wise or not.

“Yes..” JL deflated in his seats, for the first time since the start of the meeting he looked like his age “and he was intending to do so long ago if it wasn't for all his sworn brother's affair, you can guess who I stumbled upon in the process of investigating my late uncle”

“Nie Huaisang..”

WXX can understand, but.. “People died a-ling”

“It was them or my Jiujiu..”
As simple as that

JL's posture returned to the Sect leader Jin, and Silence returned to the room.

“But if Jiang Cheng knows-”
WXX cut himself, because really what will JC do..

disown JL!

JL scoffs at his half statement as he has the same line of thinking “I know for a fact that there was a day you killed left and right for my jiujiu too”

WXX's stared at the younger, his head was already hurting from all of today's revelation, too much in his head to realize the spider's hand moving to her dagger.

“Now WWX, I need to ask..
What are your intentions with everything you learned today?” JL sighed again, this time looking so tired

“I know you would figure it out sooner or later, and to be honest with you it became a burden to carry this alone, and I know you can understand this at least, I- I couldn’t lose him too-” JL cut his own words, the idea itself looked like it was choking him

“tell me, what would you have done if you were me..”

And JL knows where to strike, as the idea itself brought a dangerous red sheen to the other eyes..

WXX gained his composure, taking a deep breath, running a hand along his face “ok, no more scheming or I am telling your uncle and I will let him break your legs for real this time”

JL chuckled at that “No more” nodding

“Ok” WXX returned to his cheery self “I need to go back now so my LZ won’t get worried”

then turned with soft eyes to the younger “you can talk to me anytime when it gets heavy JL, I will always find a time for you to listen” then turned to leave..

the spider took her hands off her dagger and the locking talisman from the door to open the way for the other to go out.

She returned to the young sect leader with an unimpressed look “he came here without the knowledge of anyone, we could get rid of him easily”

The facade JL was wearing fell off to an expressionless face “tck, he will be more of benefits alive, also as much as I hate it, Jiujiu still cares for him .. a lot”

That seemed to convince her enough not to follow the man and finish the job
“What if he told anyone?”

Now the sharp smile returned to the younger “and tell them what?.. And if, who will believe him aside from his husband and the couple of juniors flocking him, he has no proof against a spoiled brat”

“What about Sect Leader Jiang”

“He probably already knows..
or suspected it at the least, how do you think he knew about me being at the temple then..”

she still wanted to argue about leaving WXX out alive, but reluctantly agreed

“Besides, we have far more pressing matters to deal with..” JL stated “how our position is faring between the sects now”

The spider started to give her report with a smirk “the lan sect reputation is suffering more blows now that their Sect Leader is still in seclusion and not showing any promises to be back soon,-

-the Nies, on the other hand, is growing strong, which already making everyone even more anxious and leaning more to believe the rumors around the SLN which WXX is helping to spread by not shutting up their mouths,-

-YMJ already gained too much for only not being part of that cursed brotherhood”

JL tapped his fingers at the desk, humming in satisfaction “what about ours..”

“Getting stronger, we already used the scandal of JGY as a way to get rid of all the harmful weeds”

“Hmmm, good.. Anything else?”

“There are two sects that are showing promises to be part of the great sects” she got her dagger out picking her nails with it “thankfully they are heavily relying on our merchant's routes”

“The sects keep delaying the choice for a Chief Cultivator, there is any can trust, or in my Jiujiu’s case, not interested enough on the position”

JL stood from his place “we have another year to establish ourselves, if Jiujiu won’t be the one setting on that title, I will take it”

“The others won’t be so lean to let you young Master”

“Not after i am finished with them..”

After a couple of months, after a conference in YMJ, WXX found himself in JC's room, telling him about JL, what happened is still eating him

*and the fact he can not tell anyone is doing worse to his sanity*

JC regarded him for a minute then stepped close to him..

“When JL spared you, he did it for me..

Why do you think I should spare you”

I wholeheartedly believe that if Jiang Cheng found Jin Ling with blood on his hands, he will protect him and clean any evidence, maybe even take the blame ✨
