So, I have been seeing a lot of memes that compares numbers of the demat accounts vis-a-vis #Dream11 accounts.

Though it is an easy content for anyone to easily compare each of it and then criticise the people of our country in general, i just wanna put out my views on same.

So yeah, Look at what #Dream11 is all about? It is about cricket and cricket only.

You just need to know about cricket with which you can just bet on some random cricket players and if luck favours, boom you get amazing rewards.

And needless to say, every tom dick and harry in India knows cricket - either follows it or just watches it for pastime and even with such knowledge can play #Dream11

And now come to #DematAccounts

It’s all about stock market and one really either needs to know have proper guidance or basic/advanced knowledge about investing his/her own money.

What’s the rate of #InvestingAwareness in India? Or what’s with the #InvestorEducation?

Nobody goes on to educate the unknown people of India about #Investments and #DematAcounts but rather troll the people of the country when they go ahead play a game about a sport that they have been watching ever since they were born.

Just because influencers talk about #Investments in Twitter to a section of people that already have demat accounts doesn’t mean you are really educating people with investments in the first place to target and troll them.

First, we collectively as people knowing about #DematAccounts need to realise that most of our parents aren’t even aware about the benefits of investing in a #StockMarket

Us as a nation have a long way to go to educate people about alternatives to gold/real-estate investments.

Investing in stock market is a choice. It’s just not because a lot of people in this generation fancy it, you can expect everyone to have a #DematAccount. Compare the amount of savings by an Indian Household to the amounts spent on the #Dream11 and you’ll get a clearer picture.

Clear picture about how wrong you were in comparing the number of demat accounts and dream11 accounts.

Biased comparisons to match your agenda can always favour to popularise your memes but can never change facts.

If an youngster today in India goes on to open a #Dream11 account and play it’s mostly because all he knows in full is about cricket and doesn’t know nuts about stock market accounts.

Rather comparing, go try to teach the students right from their schools about stock markets.

Then you’ll know what changes you really could make in this country and it’s investing habits.

I’m concluding saying three things :

1. You gotta compare savings/other investments to dream11 accounts rather than just demat accounts.

2. Let us also understand it is a choice and never a stereotyped way to just have stock market investments.

3. We collectively need to understand than investor education needs to level up in our country and have to reach larger audiences about stock markets.

After all of which, if we still don’t progress then think about comparing agendas not just before all of it. 🙌🏻
