Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja never really had a lot of problems.

They had known each other since they were kids and had pined after one another even when they were dating other people.

In the end, when they got together, it was magical.

For years, they were happy. Kim Dokja worked as an editor while Yoo Joonghyuk was a pro gamer.

They were both successful in their fields and Dokja was ready to take the next step.

He was ready to start a family.

But for some reason Yoo Joonghyuk disagreed.

"Now is not a good time," he'd say whenever Dokja tried to talk about the future. "We still have so many things to take care of."

He never explained what those things were though.

And then one day, Kim Dokja found out he was pregnant.

Despite not wanting kids, Yoo Joonghyuk was never really good about using protection.

Kim Dokja was thrilled though and when he told Yoo Joonghyuk, he knew the alpha would be apprehensive but they'd make it.

He never anticipated how upset Yoo Joonghyuk would be.

"Did you do this on purpose?!" Yoo Joonghyuk had asked, furious at the news.

"What the hell are you talking about?" Kim Dokja had snapped back.

Thankfully, the alpha didn't push it and just walked away.

He needed some time to reconsider things.

Kim Dokja had feared that this would be the end. He'd even started making plans to raise the baby on his own when Yoo Joonghyuk returned, baby clothes in hand.

"I'm still not sure about being... A father. But I'll be okay as long as we're together," he had said and Kim Dokja had held onto him so tight.

He should have known better.

After that, the two of them went back to their daily life. But Yoo Joonghyuk didn't ever go to the hospital with Kim Dokja. He was always accompanied by one of his friends.

When Kim Dokja brought home a picture of the baby, Yoo Joonghyuk barely ever looked at it.

And when the morning sickness started, the alpha looked conflicted. Almost ready to bolt.

Then as Kim Dokja's body began to change, so did their sex life. From people who couldn't keep their hands off each other, they went to people who rarely even kissed.

It wasn't that Kim Dokja didn't want to be with his husband. Oh no. His hormones made him want to jump Yoo Joonghyuk at all times.

Kim Dokja could see the cracks in their relationship but he did nothing to fix it. Because he knew that if he tried, their wouldn't be a relationship left to fix.

So he let it be. Hoping and praying that things would be better once the baby was here.

During his fifth month, Kim Dokja had gone out to spend some time with Han Sooyung. He was supposed to stay out all day until Sooyung was called away due to a work emergency.

So Dokja went home, excited to spend the day wrapped in his husband's arms.

He shouldn't have been surprised when he walked into his house and realised that someone was there.

He shouldn't have been surprised when he heard the thumping sounds and the moans coming from the bedroom.

Kim Dokja had known for a while that something was wrong.

But he didn't want to believe that his Yoo Joonghyuk would ever hurt him.

Yet as he walked into their bedroom and found Yoo Joonghyuk buried deep inside Lee Seolhwa he knew that he had.

"Dokja," Yoo Joonghyuk scrambled off the bed. "This isn't what it looks like."

"So you're not cheating on me then?" Dokja asked, laughing a little as he looked at Joonghyuk's disheleved state. "What are you guys doing then? Was choking and you were giving her CPR with your dick?"

"Dokja please. Let's just talk about it, okay?" Yoo Joonghyuk asked.

"No. There's nothing to talk about," Kim Dokja said. "I'm going over to Sooyung's for the day. Pack your shit and get out of my house."

"This is our --"

"No this is my house. I bought it with my hard earned money while you were still struggling to reach your dream."

"I want you out by the end of the day or I'm calling the cops," Kim Dokja said and then walked away.

Even as the alpha called out after him, even as he begged for another chance, Kim Dokja kept walking.

Just as Kim Dokja had instructed, Yoo Joonghyuk was gone.

He had probably assumed he'd come back later when the omega had calmed down and then "talk things out".

Kim Dokja had no plans to stay.

He immediately put the house on the market for sale.

It was the place where he had made the best memories of his life but now it was tainted.

This would now always be the place where Yoo Joonghyuk betrayed him.

Taking only what he needed, Kim Dokja moved in with Han Sooyung and that was supposed to be be the end of that.

How was he supposed to know that Yoo Joonghyuk still had a card up his sleeve?

Kim Dokja was taking his usual break in the park, watching children play and imagining how his own child would be when someone sat down next to him.

At first he thought it was Yoo Joonghyuk until he looked closer.

"Jonghyun?" Kim Dokja asked, surprised to see his old friend and Yoo Joonghyuk's brother.

"How are you still the only one who can tell me and my brother apart?" Jonghyun askeed with a grin.

"What are you doing here?" Dokja asked.

Last he'd heard, Jonghyun had moved to America permanently.

"You know why I'm here," Jonghyun tilted his head.

Dokja narrowed his eyes, "You came all the way from America to convince me to get back with your brother?"

"God, no. Joonghyuk did message me but being the friend that I am to you, I left him on read." His grin grew wider. "I just came to see my dear friend who didn't even tell me he was pregnant."

"I just --" Kim Dokja tried to answer but he couldn't.

After he had started dating Joonghyuk, things between him and Jonghyun had become strained.

From people who were attached at the hip they became people who barely talked. And then Jonghyun went to America and Kim Dokja just... Let him go.

"Well, it doesn't matter. You're here now!" Dokja smiled brightly. "We can catch up."

"How far along are you?" Jonghyun asked, eyeing Dokja's baby bump.

"Close to six months now. Do you wanna feel?"

"No.."

"I know you want to. I can see it in your eyes~"

Admiting defeat with a sigh, Jonghyun reached out and touched the bump gently.

Kim Dokja closed his eyes, his omega happy for the first time in months. It was distressing whenever Yoo Joonghyuk avoided touching him.

But now, to have an alpha caress him with such care.

It felt good.

When Kim Dokja opened his eyes Jonghyun was staring at him.

"My brother is an idiot," he said and Dokja snorted.

"Understatement of the year."

"Are you both still bonded?" Jonghyun suddenly asked.

Kim Dokja's hand went to his nape.

"Nope. Our bond, our marriage, it's all over now," he whispered, still hurting. "But it's okay. Once my little sunshine is here, I'll be happy again. Just me and my little baby."

"Incorrect. Just you, your sunshine and uncle Jonghyun."

"Oh really? How will you be here when you're supposed to be in America?" Dokja raised his brows.

"I'll be here because I'm moving back to Korea. I missed home and frankly, I missed you," Jonghyun answered.

Kim Dokja felt his cheeks heat up and quickly looked away.

"Well in celebration we should get some food. The baby is hungry," he announced getting up.

"Which baby? The cute tiny one or the grumpy old one?"

Dokja gently kicked Jonghyun's shin, "Keep walking."

After leaving Yoo Joonghyuk, Kim Dokja had been prepared to spend the rest of his life alone.

He was prepared to raise his baby alone

But somehow, Jonghyun slotted himself into his life so seamlessly, like he belonged there from the beginning.

Dokja found himself spending more and more time with Jonghyun. They went to libraries together, to restaurants and to the beach.

Sooyung called them dates but Kim Dokja just waves her off.

He didn't want to expect anything. He didn't want to get his heart broken again.

It was better for him to be alone but Jonghyun made it so hard.

Not only did he buy Dokja ridiculous amounts of food, he accompanied the omega to all his doctors appointments. He cried with Dokja when they found out the baby was a girl and held his hand tightly.

It was as if he knew that Kim Dokja was scared. Having and raising a baby alone wasn't easy, no matter how prepared Dokja was.

So having Jonghyun by his side just put him to ease. It gave him the chance to just breathe.

Jonghyun, despite being busy, always had the time to help Dokja in finding a new house. He couldn't stay with Sooyung forever.

And somehow, the house that he thought was a little too big and Jonghyun was his new roommate.

"You need the help," Jonghyun had said with a shrug. "And anyway, I need to get away from Joonghyuk and his mood swings."

"Your idea of getting away is living in a house with a crying, pooping baby?" Dokja asked

"Have you met my brother?"

And just like that, Jonghyun moved in.

Even though they weren't dating, it was like Kim Dokja had an alpha again. Not only did Jonghyun cook for him but he massaged his feet and rubbed his back whenever he threw up.

He let Dokja cling to him on days when his emotions were all over the place and took care of midnight cravings with a smile on his face.

It was like Jonghyun was meant to be a father. Something Yoo Joonghyuk could never be.

And when the baby finally came, Jonghyun was with Kim Dokja in the delivery room.

So, after months of dancing around each other, when the two of them finally kissed, Kim Dokja knew it wasn't because of the hormones. He knew that Jonghyun wasn't a rebound.

When they kissed, even though it was short, it felt like it was meant to be.

Like a missing piece had finally fallen into place and Dokja was complete.

"I was happy for you and my brother when you got together," Jonghyun had said one night after him and Dokja popped open a bottle of wine after putting Biyoo, their daughter, to bed. "But I was happier when he fucked up."

"You should put that on a postcard, darling."

Jonghyun chuckled, "I have been waiting for you my whole life, Dokja."

"I'm sorry it took me so long to find you," Dokja whispered.

"It was worth the wait."

Dokja never thought he'd ever be this happy.

Yoo Joonghyuk had always known that the worst thing that could ever happen to him was losing Kim Dokja.

He didn't love anyone as much as he did Kim Dokja so he was happy when the two of them got together.

But then the baby happened and Yoo Joonghyuk felt like his worst fear was coming true. He didn't know why but he was sure that once the baby was born, Kim Dokja would no longer be his.

It was a stupid irrational fear. Yet he let it consume him.

So, he made one mistake after another until his fear became reality.

Yoo Joonghyuk didn't know what devastation felt like until he saw the look of disappointment in Kim Dokja's eyes.

He wanted to beg for forgiveness. For a chance to fix things but Kim Dokja left and Yoo Joonghyuk couldn't do anything to bring him back.

Now, he continued his career as a pro streamer, married to Lee Seolhwa. But he wasn't happy.

Not like he was with Kim Dokja.

He often wondered how the omega was doing, if he was happy and if he kept the baby in the end. Since Kim Dokja didn't use social media it was hard to keep tabs on him.

One day, as he scrolled through Instagram, Joonghyuk noticed that his brother had posted something for the first time in years.

The last time the two of them had spoken was when Yoo Joonghyuk had asked Jonghyun to help him with Kim Dokja. Jonghyun hadn't replied and that was it

Which is why, this whole time he had assumed that Jonghyun was still in America.

Little did he know that his brother had come back. Not only that but here Joonghyuk was, staring at a picture from Jonghyun's wedding..

In the picture, Kim Dokja looked radiant as he held the hand of a four year old girl and looked right at Jonghyun who was holding a boy, perhaps two years old.

"That bastard," Yoo Joonghyuk muttered.

The last card in his arsenal had turned out to be a mistake in a series of mistakes.

But now, it was too late for Joonghyuk to do anything about it.
